Looks like an ok start to a list. I can suggest some changes to make it a little more competitive.

Drop the krak grenades off the CCS. Give all the veterans special weapons and plop them in a plain multilaser/heavy flamer chimera as they aren't going to do anything but die at this point.

You don't really need plasma pistols on the vet sergeants. Just takes up points. I also am not a fan of doctrines. With the guard being a horde(ish) army, you always want to think about getting more men and more special weapons on the table before adding a bunch of upgrades. I would also suggest getting the melta vets a chimera as well. The vendetta is a premier gunship, but makes for a poor transport as it needs to stay back and shoot to be effective.

Heavy support has the most issues IMO. Vanquisher is overpriced for what it does, as is Pask. Drop the tank entirely to free up points. I would also suggest changing the executioner to a plain leman russ unless you face a lot of MEQ armies where you play. If you keep it, get rid of the sponsons to keep the tank mobile.

If you take all of my advice, here is roughly what you'd get after adding a third troops choice and a hydra

HQ
CCS - 4xmelta, chimera ML/HF
(145)

Troops
Vet Squad - 3xmelta, chimera ML/HF
(155)
Vet Squad - 3xplasma, chimera ML/HF
(170)
Vet Squad - 3xplasma, chimera ML/HF
(170)

Fast Attack
Vendetta
(130)

Heavy Support
Leman Russ - Hull heavy bolter
(150)
Hydra Flak Tank
(75)

Total 995pts

Hope this helps

Just my 2 cents

I second your opinion with the vendetta. Too many times I found myself, while playing with my friends IG army, sitting back and taking shots instead of moving in to get my troops into place. The times I did move in, my vendetta got shot down. Chimera is the way to go.

I agree with that also. Use the Vendy to hit armor from a far. It is a prime target most of the time!

I often regret moving my vendettas up too far. I usually think I have a good reason, but they die just the same

I remember when I started IG I thought Pask and a Vanquisher and Sponsons in general were amazing. Now I see their value, but also the heavy limitations that come with them.

I agree with orkboy232's recommendations in general, especially the things to cut for the reasons he said.

For a basic, all comers, general play list, you want flexible reliability at the best points costs you can find. orkboy232's recommend list is a bit boring, but that is because a lot of people play similar lists. They play them because they work more often than they fall on their face.

For some variety, try fielding your vanquisher as a medusa with bastion breaching shells and one of your vet squads with sergeant Harker and Demolitions doctrine.

Try this one out, gives you some nice tactical advantages while packing in a lot of firepower.

HQ

Company Command Squad ; 110
Officer Of The Fleet
Astropath

Troops

Veteran Squad : 155
Meltagun x 3
Chimera w/ Multilaser, Heavy Flamer

Veteran Squad : 155
Meltagun x 3
Chimera w/ Multilaser, Heavy Flamer

Veteran Squad : 155
Meltagun x 3
Chimera w/ Multilaser, Heavy Flamer

Fast Attack

Vendetta Gunship : 130

Vendetta Gunship : 130

Heavy Support

Leman Russ Demolisher : 165
Hull Heavy Flamer

TOTAL ; 1000

CCS is there only for the advisors. Hide in cover/ Vendetta Gunship. 2x Vendetta's will blow away any vehicle you point at while Demolisher will kill anything thats out of cover and intimidate the hell out of people. 3x Chimeltas give you hard hitting and mobile troops.

This list can take on all comers and quite competitive. Try it out

Well, the list i just posted is to kill those space wolves. My opponent use 2 vindicator, 2 rhino with grey hunters, 1 wolf scout squad and a runepriest patched with long fanf 2 plasma cannon 2 missile launcher and 1heavy bolter. He always win those who play with him. Mostly all af them hates the wolf scout throwing krak grenades to thier tanks. That is why i give my CCS with laspistol and cc weapons. Vanquisher to kill vindicators and executioner to kill the crap out of the grey hunters in the rhino. Vendy and vets are going to use melta bombs and demo to kill rhinos. That is what i think.

If you use my list, you might be able to beat it. Watch this!

If you get 1st turn, you get to pull off an ALPHA STRIKE! Use the Vendettas to immediately kill the Vindicators ( or GH Rhinos if its an objective mission ). After that, the only real ranged threat to your tanks is the long fangs which you can torrent down with multilasers. If he reserves, the officer of the fleet will make his army come in piecemeal, allowing you to kill off parts of his force one by one.

If he gets first turn and your worried about your tanks being blown up before they get to move, you can reserve your whole army, with the astropath, you should be able to get the majority of your force in and pull off an ALPHA STRIKE! (same as above ) If you don't want to reserve, you can always scout move the Vendettas 24" in front of his tanks to block him in. AV12 and 4+ cover should protect them from his anti tank ( which isn't a lot )

Wolf scouts will be easily killed using the chimera and russ heavy flamers, wound on 3+ with no saves! They won't even dare to come close to you

So your plan is simple.

Use Vendettas to take out Rhinos and Vindicators ( preferably Rhinos most of the time ). when their on foot, their easy prey for your heavy flamers and demolisher cannon. For long fangs, just spam multilaser shots at them and they will go down. Don't forget your chimeltas as they can easily pop tanks and kill off infantry.

Hope this helps

You need to edit your originial post and remove the equipment costs. This is a forum rule, as per the top, sticky post by the Admins.

As for Jereziah's list, the Astropath is not needed unless your outflanking 3+ units /every/ game... and in a list where your only long range firepower for turn 1 are your Vendettas, you do /not/ want to outflank them... to do so is dumb, as your screwing yourself and giving your opponent free turns of fire.

As for Reserving your list, your still rolling to bring on everything...again, your screwing yourself as now your opponent can now shoot you to bits peicemeal and the onlything you can fire are your Vendettas...when they happen to come on. Tourney lists do not depend on 'well, 85% of my list /should/ show up'...now even further away then they have to be to get in Melta/Plasma range.

If they are killing your Vendettas, then your Chimeras and Demolisher are a turn /closer/ to melta/Demolisher cannon range. If they fail, your Vendettas can do their damage. Worse comes to worse, you Scout move them Flat out.

Damn, I am in Kuala Lumpur. The reserve list that you mention I tried it before and end up total, epic fail. It is kind of giving the space wolves a target practice 1 at a time. BTW, the table is a 4 by 4 foot table its vindicator will sure gets me on turn 2. By then, the grey hunter will be at my gunline shooting the crap out of me.
