Well, lets see some decent print out before getting all excited about this please.

the demo I saw at CES this year, the stuff looked like Playdough. Still better than finecast IMO.... LOL

Why does the Pirate Bay have to offer these? Aren't their home 3D scanning technologies for the home yet?

I don't know if the technology to 3d print a six thousand dollar high resolution 3d scanner is ready.

TPB added a category, big whoop - people still need to create the STL/X3D files and create the torrents just like they do for any other file on TPB.

In fact, before they did this you could probably have found them on there in the Other section anyway.

It's a sad day when a site adding a new category is considered news.

Well the only reason I posted it because there was a marine dreadnaught that made it on there, and was removed in December.

After the next price hike, this will actually be cheaper.

If I needed, I could print things up with my school's 3d printer, they spent a ton of money on it and pretty much left it to gather dust. It's very quiet and only about the size of a water-cooler, nobody would notice.

I look forward to being able to download a 3D model of an LP, that I can play on my turntable. Take that, RIAA!

Well, the MakerBot is, from my understanding, the most commercially viable 3D printer right now, and it'll run you just under $2,000.

That being said, everything you need to make the MakerBot can be made on the MakerBot. The only exception is the circuit boards, and MakerBot (the company) is willing to sell them. They even have DIY kits for dirt cheap.
