Where the sun crosses the field of blood.

So, with the recent talk about MSU, I've become quite interested in the concept. Do you think it would be viable?
I did an experimental list based on my standard list, splitting the core into multiple lesser units... But I'm not quite sure I've done it right.
The List:

Lord: = 410
Sir Novkaer
Vampire Lord
Barded Nightmare, Heavy Armour
Beguile, Aura of Dark Majesty, Quickblood
Enchanted Shield, Talisman of Preservation, Ogre Blade
= 410

Heroes: = 389
Necromancer
Level 2
Master of the Dead
Dispel Scroll
= 145

Necromancer
Level 2
The Cursed Book
= 135

Wight King
Shield, Barded Skeletal Steed
= 109

Core: 505
15 Skeletons
15 Skeletons
15 Skeletons

20 Zombies
20 Zombies

5 Dire Wolves
5 Dire Wolves
10 Dire Wolves

Special:
11 Black Knights
Barding, Lances
Full Command
Banner of the Barrows
= 361

Rare:
5 Blood Knights
Full Command
Banner of Eternal Flame
= 295

Total: 1960 (40 left for sweeeet stuff)
Now, as I said, I'm not sure I've done it right. Plan is to have one Necromancer in each Zombie unit, behind the Skeleton line, IoNing as much as they can.
Should I divide the Skeletons into smaller groups?
Black Knights serve as Hammer to... Hammer stuff. Blood Knights are Monsterbusters/Hammer. I know people will suggest Banner of Blood Keep, but I actually feel pretty safe with them like this. Might change my mind later though. Blood Knights also serve as transport for my Lord, who might jump out and solo something if the wants to.
Anyways, would this list be viable do you think? What is your advice? How should I use each unit?
I understand that MSU is hard to master... So every advice is gladly welcomed!

Im not sure how theyll do in combat having so few bodies. To me the skellies and such were better served in bigger blocks so to have a decent amount of wounds and attacks to tarpit so you could crash into the sides with beasties like the blood knights. Most the lists who run the small squads to be grown route tend to maximize their necros and add a mortis engine.

To be fair to your list though I really think it depends who you play. If you have a hard time gettin multiple spells off your small squads may be killed quite quickly.

The enemy of my enemy is a bastard so lets kill him too.

I'm worried about that too. And I'm not so intended on growing the units rather than trying to manipulate the movement phase. Also, the list is very experimental.

sooo, tie up 2 units and crumble everything else? Check out the unstable rules. Most cavalry units could take on your skelly units, even within a 10 leadership bubble. 40-50 skellies may work, but 15 can even die to shooting. skellies are not strong. Screaming banner gives them a chance against non-fear causing units, but they'll die to everything else. Most armies if they trie (outside of dwarves) can be into combat by turn 2 . Most magic can be nullified for a turn or two esp. with a bad winds of magic roll.

For your type of vamp list I'd drop the vamp lord, and replace him a master necro, and swap the black knights for more bloodknights.
Bloodknights will really hammer what they hit, while the black knights won't do nearly as many wounds, and are slower or loose the spectral steed rules, depending on if you run the GEN with them or not.

Use the left over points for more skeletons, becasue with a unit of 15 skeletons; a stone thrower could ruin their day in a hurry.

Cause the chicks dig it...

Large units of Skeletons/Zombies are really the only way to go with them.
Small units of Ghouls can be effective, though.

If you went with a lot of big stuff and fun toys, you might be able to do well. Target the General/BSB in combat and have at it. With that in mind, some Banshee-esque wails would suit you well. Kill the high-end stuff and grind down the tar pits as fast as you can while taking few casualties yourself?
