It depends
If it is the necron player rolling to damage an enemy vehicle, from a weapon in the crypteks unit, then yes
If it is your necron vehicle that is being damaged, then no - because it isnt a rol made by you

Is a roll made by a person always a roll made by the unit? Just curious because it is super strong if only in units of 4 lances

Haven't really looked at that weapon much but that seems kind of deceptive in name :(

If I didn't like to have fun I would have offer myself along time ago. I think 40k would be a lot more fun if they tried harder to make coherent rules. 40k is really fun until the multiples times per game it gets bogged down by unclear rules. I've fallen asleep reading every rulebook since 3rd ed.

Actually that's not the reason (unless they changed it in the FAQ that I don't have access to right now). From page 85 of Codex Necrons:
A model with a chronometron can re-roll one of his D6 rolls each phase. If the bearer is in a unit, this ability can be used to instead re-roll one of the unit's D6 rolls each phase.
It would not work for the vehicle in any case since its not the Cryptek's roll nor is it the Cryptek's unit.:

The FAQ allowed the chronometron to re-roll Imotekh's night fight, and I think the only reasonable conclusion is that it applies to any and all rolls made by any member of a squad they are attached to. Otherwise, there are so many questions as to what it can be used for that it becomes unusable due to constant arguments about what is a "legitimate" roll for its benefit to apply to.

However a vehicle is never attached to the squad like an Independent Character is. A vehicle can never be in the same unit as the bearer.

True, but more importantly the vehicle damage against the necron's vehicle roll is made by the opposing player. Thus, not just a different unit, but a different army.
The same logic that allows a necron player to use chronometron to re-roll the damage results of their Tacyon Arrow, disallows the use of chronometron to protect their own vehicles in that way.

It doesn't matter who makes the roll though. Its not a part of the Cryptek's unit. Your explanation would allow the vehicle you use the re-roll if the vehicle was rolling the dice and that is not the case.

I'm not arguing the ruling. I'm giving you a second, better, reason.
In analogy-land... you're saying you shouldn't re-elect him because he was a bad city councilman. I'm saying you definitely should not re-elect him because he is a horse.

And no, its not a "better" reason. The reason is that a vehicle can not make use of re-roll provided by a chronometron no matter if its you or your opponent that made the roll in the first place. You don't even get that far.

Ghaz, I think you misundertsood the comment he (nos) was making. He was saying that if a unit with a chronometron shoots a vehicle, the chronometron can re-roll the vehicle damage result. He was not saying that a necron vehicle could benefit from a chronometron in any way (in fact, he was saying the opposite). His wording was a bit unclear and lacked punctuation, but that's what he was trying to say. If you understand this and are saying that vehicles make damage rolls against themselves, then I think we can end the "discussion."

Again, this is what nos said:
nosferatu1001 wrote:...If it is your necron vehicle that is being damaged, then no - because it isnt a rol made by you
Which says to me that the only reason that you couldn't use the chronometron is because yoi didn't make the roll in the first place. It also implies that the vehicle could make use of the chronometron if it was the vehicle that was making the roll. That's not the case. The simple fact is that in the given situation a vehicle can never benefit from the re-roll provided from the chronometron. Why are you wasting time deciding who made the initial roll if you can't use the re-roll either way?
