heres an idea for a fluffy but competitive ambush infiltrators list.

1500 point version:

CCS: 90
Lascannon, Camo Cloaks

Ratling Squad: 90
6 Additional Ratlings

Veteran Squad: 145
Harker, Heavy Bolter, 2 Flamers

Veteran Squad: 150
Forward Sentries, Lascannon, 3 Meltas

Veteran Squad: 150
Forward Sentries, Lascannon, 3 Meltas

Veteran Squad: 155
Forward Sentries, Autocannon, 3 Plasmas

Veteran Squad: 140
Forward Sentries, Autocannon, 2 Plasmas

Banewolf: 140
Smoke Launcher, HF

Banewolf: 140
Smoke Launcher, HF

Leman Russ Battle Tank: 150
HB

Leman Russ Battle Tank: 150
HB

ratlings and veterans all infitrate into cover for a 3+, vets shoot at either inf. or vehicles. (ratlings are for mcs). banewolfs pop smoke and get up feild asap to deal with meqs. while lemans slowly roll up killing everything that can walk. what do you guys think?

and heres my 1k version:

haha I love the theme of the list a lot, brother. I play Catachans too and I've been pressuring my buddies to let me field my 4th edition Codex: Catachan list that does the REAL ambushing XD. As for the list, I think it's pretty decent, as you seem to have your bases covered with enough AT from the squads and CCS, as well as your troop killing. The only thing here is that any templates will be your worst enemy. One drop-pod comes down and all of a sudden theres a flamer on your door step as you lose handfuls of models at a time. I guess you can watch out for that by clever deployment, but be careful. Good luck with the list, lemme know how it works out for you!.

So you told the SD boy to stay classy. I'm sure he's NEVER heard that one....

Really like the both armies. This is one of the better veteran armies IV'e seen that plays like a proper guard army

I like this. Different than the standard cookie cutter lists that you see here on these boards. Very original. I think it will do well, despite what the others say. Good luck.

Thats an awesome idea for a list, really fluffy as well. I like it.

It might be worth your while to add in some PWs to your Vet squads, as enemies charging them will have INT 1 (assuming you infiltrate them into cover). That way they can actually do some damage if they get attacked. Just a thought.

Make sure to keep us posted on how it goes!

Not sure on that one, but doesn't Forward Sentries "only " gives the squad Stealth and Spring Mines? How do you Infiltrate all of those squads?

Appart from that, the list is fluffy (though Lascanons should be changed for something more man-portable) and should be quite resilient against anything that does not ignore cover saves. I would try to give Demolition to Harker's squad, that way they'd be able to hunt Infantry as well as Tanks - real Devils right there!

I'm playing them from the standard IG Codex, not from Catachan. So Forward Sentries gives them Stealth and Infiltrate, so i plan on starting all of the vets and rats halfway up the board, all in cover, and far apart with any luck. then they just hide in the trees and blow em away!

However, I'm sort of concerned with how well it will do against any horde-type army. Im worried about the vets just getting swarmed, and then after getting locked in, i wont be able to shoot them with the lemans.

Any thoughts or suggestions on this?

Thanks

For an amush catachan list, I would want scount sentinels as well - keep them cheap with multilasers and of course Marbo. 9 ratlings seems a bit excessive in one squad. Stormies can also D/S in.

Penal legions also get scout as standard.

I thought about taking Rambo, as well as Scout Sentinels, but I dont want to have to role for reserves for them to come in. i want all of this army to hit at once essentially, and from turn one. that is the point of having all of the vets start out in my opponents face.
