I like the new cover. A bit more mature, a bit more simplistic.

I love the intimate style of speaking directly to you (through Video Blogs)! When was the last time you saw the owner or the Game designer of GW speaking to you directly....DIRECTLY (Standfast Gamesday where they usually drop as many woolly answers as facts).

No my friend said this, a local manager at my FLGS said this "In X Edition were going to be able to shot whilst flying backwards at mach 2!" "No way, you talk BS " "I totally don't, my brother works for X, so **** you". (For the record i despise this kind of immature nonsense and it pretty much encapsulates all the crap people come out with prior to a launch of a new product or edition!)

I hate the bollocks that people come out with 3-6 months before the release of a new edition of any game, this is a good way to combat it! This is how to set the record straight and how to engage with your audience. 10/10 BF.

I think he was refering to this new edition 40k hype and GW in general and also how battlefront is a better company for their customer service.

I think the issue with GW is that they know they have had the market cornered for so long that they still believe themselves to be the ultimate force in tabletop gaming.

Reality is players are actively seeking new styles of play, less grey written rules and overall a more solid gaming system then the sub par garbage that GW is spewing out these days.

BF is looking to me to be a fantastic company that is interested in the advancement of the game ALONG with its player base instead of the designers pulling the gamers along with their own ideas... 10/10 for BF in issuing a free V3 rules book.

GW and the word FREE would send it's shareholders into cardiac arrest.

Well deciphered. I was having a vent, as I went to gaming night last night and had to listen to 20 idiot neckbeards, discussing the leaked/not leaked/hoaxed/ 6th Edition. I simply do not get why people have to know before the launch, It will be here when it gets here, why try second guessing why talk obvious BS and nonsense.

BF have set the agenda at Christmas, 30 days later this video and 30 days hence good to go complete release of V3, no rumours, no leaks, no nonsense, just the straight facts. They have even summarised the changes neatly in WI 292 on my desk. Seriously how good are Battlefront?

This cannot be understated, imo. I was on an Ancients Historical forum a few days ago reading through some of the old posts. Apparently a couple of the posters there had received e-mailed surveys from GW that asked about "The GW Hobby". Much snarking and mockery ensued, particularly when they noted that the surveys asked about other hobbies and apparently included a decent array of other activities but didn't mention wargaming in any way shape or form.

See, according to GW, there's no such thing as "wargaming". It's "The GW Hobby".

Hmm...

Now I have to wonder if you read the same post I did. iirc, someone else mocked the idea with "Fording" just like you did...

With this GW 40k new edition is just makes me glad i sold off my 10 thousand point guard army.I am even amazed how even my wife is glad i pick up Fow for my new wargaming hobby.even her as a non wargamer believes that Battlefront is a superior company than Gw.Especially since they are giving away the new edition book and also how they allow third party models at tourneys.I know us Blood Bowlers really got it good from Gw this year. The Blood bowl championships at the HQs this year will not let us use the thrid party models.Which is really bad because gw does not make a few of the teams and positionals and any body using them will be not alowed to use them.I could go on more on how gw did the last guy who did the newest edition really bad but will save that for another tirad. Also on that same note that new hardback set looks great i know i will be getting one.

The real beauty of FoW is if you don't like Battlefront's prices or sculpts there are a dozen other companies making the same thing.

Could we get a link to that forum? I'd love to see it. Historical gamers have such a capacity for a good snarking.

I'm not sure if I can find it again. I was randomly jumping from forum to forum when I found it. But I'll see if I can dig it up again over the weekend.

This is a really great move by BF, it really shows how much they care for their customer base, unlike another company...

Pity the free book is only for the hardcover, but I will likely be getting the 3 book pack when it comes out.

By the way, does anyone know if the forces book will be Mid or Late War? I have been thinking about starting a late-war Russian tank company.

Have we heard anything about the price of the bundle?

I heard £30 but I can't remember where. I won't be buying the hard back rulebook so I haven't been keeping up with prices.

My bad. It wasn't a forum, it was a blog post. And the alternate comparison was to a football equipment manufacturer, not Ford.

Look at the size of that shrink wrapped pack! Has anyone tried to trade in their old rule book and get the mini-rules yet?

Not yet, I asked my FLGS today and they still don't have a specific date for the books.
