I recently acquired my first Warhound Titan and I have a couple of questions.
1) What color-scheme should I paint it? Does the classic red + gold trim with metallic bits for Mechanicus work? Or is there a specific legion I should pick?
2) I'm going to try to add a banner to the bottom using a length of chain / string. What is commonly on these banners?
3) What should I name it? I am almost fluent in Latin, but I'm worried it won't be suitably epic.
If you want a Latin name for the bugger, have a look at http://www.20000-names.com/male_latin_names.htm and see if there's anything you like. A combination of a good meaning and a strong-sounding word is what you're looking for. No point getting a cool-sounding name if it translates to 'fluffy rabbit'
Don't worry about the banner until you've painted the model. The model itself is going to be a beastly project.
As for the paint scheme, go hunting around for a color scheme you like. Look at pictures of old tanks, pictures of vehicles from sci-fi movies, other game systems, video games, etc. Click over to coolminiornot and search for "warhound titan" to find out what color schemes others have created. You can do so much better than straight red/gold!
The name doesn't have to be super-epic. Just look up a list of latin root words and combine some until you find one that sounds cool. Alternatively you could scour old military history books for latin call signs of various armies and units through history.
