Working on a good GK 1500 points list.
Since I am about to enter the FLGS competition and I have yet to field test GK against competitve armies, I am searching for any comment / advice before getting exploded like a rotten tomato on a wall (my GK are colourblind and I painted them red...).

HQ
Inquisitor - Rad nades, power armour, combi melta - 58

Elites
5 paladins (2 psycannons, variety of weapons for wound allocation abuse) - 315
6 purifiers (5 falchions 1 hammer) - 174

Troops
10 GKSS (2 pycannons, hammer, rhino) - 270
6 GKSS (1 psycannon, hammer, psyback) - 190

Fast
1 stormraven (AC, MM) - 205

Support
1 LRC (Psybolt) - 260

28 points left.
Basically, paladins with inqui in LRC, Purif in SR. Everyone has their own ride.
Am I missing something, and more specificaly :
- Paladins at 1500, good choice?
- No GM (i.e. no grand strategy), fail ?
- Is having 2 impressive vehicules loaded with non-scoring shock troops going to divide the enemy fire?

I have loads of spare things, among them regular GKT, a DK, Dreadnoughts... Am I picking the good combination?

I'd like to have some feedback, I do not want to miss my entry on the local gaming scene.

Cheers,

Seb.

I think what you're missing the most is troop choices, you need to either include a GM or include more troops. You might find you have enough (if you're extra careful with them!), so maybe it's just a matter of playtesting.

The list is pretty solid though, it's going to be hard to find the points if you did want to include a GM. If you do end up with some spare points though, I would maximize the size of the purifier squad.

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

One simple option would be to remove the LRC and deep strike the paladins, using the storm raven as backup transport if possible. I could include the GM. :/

I hope you read this in time. Do not take psybolts on the LRC (unless you can pick which guns get it). Psybolts on hurricane bolters mean they become S5, which means they are no longer defensive weapons.

Yeah you need the GM.
Don't forget he can also take the nades. 5 pallies accompanied by a GM w/ rads and trokes is no laughing matter.
Maybe you should post the pally equips too.

Thanks a lot for the LRC tip!

On the paladin:
1 halberd
1 hammer
1 psycannon /sword
1 psycannon / halberd
1 sword

Trick done.

Something seems off about this list.

I'm not sure if investing 1/2 of your army into 2 vehicles and a deathstar capable of being easily popped by meltaguns is a good way to go. There are plenty of ways to take out both vehicles in the first or second turn, (termicide, dante w/ infernus pistol units, guard in general etc.)

I'd drop one of the vehicles, probably the stormraven. Give your purifiers a pair of psycannons and put them in either a rhino or razorback. Give your LRC a multi-melta as well.

I dunno, I feel like you're lacking bodies to deal with high volume shooty armies.

I have to agree with what everyone one else said, I think the list really needs a GM, grand strategy can really change how you play your army, be it the extra scoring units, scouting or whatever.

If I was to drop a vehicle I would lose the stormraven, its good no doubt but it does rely on going first, the lack of psychic communion also gives you another reason to drop it (just so you have better control of when it comes on).

Why do you have a Crusader, what does it add to the list, I think both other variants are more useful to the list, the standard for its long range support and the redeemer for its close range horde trimming (which really helps make up for the lack of bodies).

I would probably drop the purifiers and buff up my strikes, stick some psybolts on them and your goldern, fact is Paladins with a GM will provide all the CC you are going to need.

Paladins are a damn good choice at 1500pts, they will get alot of attention which is fine, it just means that the rest of your army is able to get into position and take apart the enemy.

Scouting Dread knights with teleporters and greatswords are insane, they have the potential to get 42" across the board in one turn (12" deploy, 12" scout, 12" move, 6" assault)

With the current list how do you plan on tackling armies like DE who are faster than you and have a longer range.

Cheers for the comments and advice.

I share the concern about investing half the points in 2 vehicules. The LRC has a multi melta (on the model, I should stop forgetting to take it on the army list!!).

Why I take a LRC and not the other versions : basically because I can have 8 terminators in it. Another good reason I discovered thanks to BTNeophyte : it can move a lot and still fire 3-4 weapons!

Dropping the stormraven could mean another 6 man GKSS in a psyback and still having spare points for a psyback for the purifiers, but no grand master...

I thought about the teleporting DK, problem is that this unit is too much points for a standing giant alone. Maybe alogside a dread or another DK?

My main problem being that I want to have a variety of units, and not just a GKSS / Psyfleman spam.

As for adressing eldar / DE, I never met one on the field yet, so any hints will be appreciated. The local competitve guys play SW and nids, I have yet to meet these as well !
