I don't know whether there ever was a T:A thread or if it just died, but here's one!

I'm surprised not to see an active one, but none the less, who else is looking forward to this game? I certainly am, I played Tribes: Vengeance (which is meant to be the worst of the originals) and absolutely loved it. The skiing mechanic mixed with the jet packs, and the selection of armour and totally original and unique weapons really piqued my interest early. I personally thought the campaign of Vengeance was fantastic also, especially for a game that is old, but yet has aged well.

I'm more baffled that Tribes: Ascend is FTP...and a part of me wishes it wasn't, as paid games usually get a lot better support than free ones. I at least hope theres some sort of microtransaction based system, maybe for cooler looking armour?

As far as I can tell, the vehicles and melee combat mechanics have also made it back into the game, as well as light, medium, and heavy armour.

Anyway, what are other peoples thoughts on this game?

Outside the DarkTower, amongst the roses.

I tried it for about an hour, wasn't impressed. F2p says alot.

Every Dakkanaught gets a 4+ Pinch of Salt save.
When you suffer a Falling Sky hit, roll a D6 - on a 4+ the hit is ignored as per the Pinch of Salt save. On a 1-3 panic insues - you automatically fail common sense tests for the next 2 weeks and get +7 to your negativity stat. -Praxiss
