New to WHFB and made a list, giving my Bsb the enchanted shield for the 1+ armor save. I was then told that he cant take shields. Asking why, i was told its an older army book rule. I cant find this rule anywhere, sso can i get some clearification please.

Bretonnian BSB can't take mundane shields. In 8th edition shields have been moved under armor. Since the BSB can take Magical armor, they can take the magical shield because its armor.

Just like the Orge caster was given access to Magic Armor because the Ironfist was a sheild.

As above. Ask people to show you the rule themselves next time - they often cant, and that helps educate them a bit
