It doesn't melt plastic and weld together when dry. Many of my models have to be reglued and it has become annoying.

Did they go to a new formula with the smaller container design?

I have noticed that the GW plastic glue at my local game store has taken an amber hue of late and my friends have said after being opened and used for a day or so it loses the ability to fuse the plastic. This is a shame as the stuff I had was great but I have gone to using superglue as I recently procured several old metal models and I won't be changing back any time soon.

I havent used the GW plastic glue for years, I tried it but have never been impressed.

I use Contacta by Revell, you can get it in most model shops. If they dont have that I'm perfectly happy to use Humbrol or the like.

The GW product used to be called polystyrene cement, but is now simply dubbed 'plastic glue'.

Wether this is a deliberate name change to make it sound more user friendly for the parents of the younger generation or they have taken out an active ingredient that now prevents it from being called so i'm not sure.

Whatever the case may be the GW 'plastic glue' is not really up to the job (in my experience).

basically - no - cause I never touch my models with the crud that GW calls glue (either super or plastic)

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I bought a bottle just before they screwed up the color...it doesn't melt plastic anymore...so I went to my local train hobby shop and picked up a bottle of plastruct plastic weld...was only 5.50 and was 4x as large as the gw stuff...it's water thin and has a brush in the cap...I put 2 trukks together with it...and it seems liek you burn through alot of it quickly...but with it being so thin it dissolves quickly you need a couple applications before sticking stuff together

I've never used it. Always used Testor's. My buddy has had a hell of time putting his demons together with that glue though, and he bought it very recently.

It's spelled "cavalry." NOT "calvary."

Genuinly don't see why anyone wouldn't use this. Cheap. Precise. Strong. What more could you want?

Some of GW's hobby supplies are fantastic (if usually a little over-priced compared to similar products without a GW logo on them) ... their glue isn't in that category.

GW's glues have always been over-priced watery gak, so if they've gone even further downhill, that's just even more reason to not be buying them.

I wouldn"t know. I've never had the lack of self respect needed to pay 4 times as much for a product just because it has a GW on it. Seriously I don't know why anybody buys their modeling supplies, $8.25 for school paste? No wonder they feel they can charge so much for minis if people buy this junk.

The GW plastic glue takes a long while to bond or to melt. And it always leaves glue strings if that makes any sense which floats around the air.

I loathe GW's glues... I've tried them, and even bought more to make sure I didn't have a bad bottle... no. I personally love Galeforce 9's glue and accelerator, but I admit I haven't tried a lot of the other products out there.

I don't know what you think they 'used to be' but sometime within the space of 8 years all mine had dried up into a 2mm thick plate of solid glue that was completely unusable.

On the other hand, my Revell is absolutely stellar and works like the day I bought it, even my epoxy glue that had half open lids was barely dried out.

The GW plastic glue is darker in hue because the agent that melts the plastic is now at a higher concentration than it used to be. Therefore they changed the name to "Plastic Glue Thick", you know, because it's thicker. I know it works fine for me, at least I've never seen it not-work, and it definitely melts and fuses the plastic. I honestly don't see why it wouldn't work for the rest of you.

I've only ever bought a bottle of plastic glue once and it was an accident (I wanted the superglue in the same shaped bottle) - the local hobby shop was closed and I needed some superglue.

I tried to use it, thinking it was the superglue (then I read the label, lol). It turned to gunge in the bottle after a week, so I threw it out.

By comparison, I've got a 2 year old bottle of Revell Contacta that is not only still liquid, but still working. It's also cheaper.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
