[Rant]This is the dumbest spell in the world, this is almost as bad as the evil stunties destoryer monster belrog thing. And it doesent even count as a magic missle for my 5 up wards, thats just silly. And you can also hit units that are in close combat. Sure people have a chance of hitting their own guys but if your a "good" player you'll just put it somewhere where I can kill warmachines or range units. Also, why is it when it donesent come in on a turn, ITS GETS flippen stronger?!?!?! I just really think its a stupid spell and a stupid rule...

But it makes up for it having a very high casting cost and can not really horde punch very well. It is heavens big 6 spell except it is under 5

1. Why is this in proposed rules?
2. If you're complaining about comet, I hate to see what you think of other spells like Infernal Gateway and Purple Sun

I'm guessing you lost a bunch of war machines to a comet?
Meanwhile, it's a spell with a high casting value, that needs a specific set of circumstances to be really deadly, and is very unreliable even then. So I'd think it should have a pretty solid payoff, if it does work.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I don't think it matter how high the casting value is, what is it, 15 eh? Because on average the opponent is going to rule like a 4 and a 3 for the spell pool table, and that's not counting the other dice he gets for having certain rules and such. So casting on a 15 isn't that hard, specially when a double 6 is a instant cast
lol and yes, my Organ gun, and GT got blown up, along with like 10 Hammerers...

I've met the Comet, and wasn't too impressed. He placed a coin, I just went around it. Nothing lost, save perhaps 10 skellies...
Morale of the story is that's it's only really useful against things that stay still. Even if it comes on the first roll, you've already had your movement phase and may easily have moved away from it with things under it.

Yea... I'm a dwarf player and I find it really hard to move my whole battle line up 6 inches, then not being able to fire anything because of the move...

Spread out your war machines. Move any at the edge of its range 3" to keep them safe. Use the Master Rune of Balance, Runes of Spellbreaking/Spelleater Runes to keep it off the field; even with 6 dice, the odds of Irresistible Force are kinda' small. And even then, he's probably hurting from the miscast.
So...what would you think of a flying vampire or a wolf-riding Gobbo shaman running down your flank and forcing every model touched by the large-template Purple Sun to take an Initiative test or die, no saves, auto-killing your war machines, Anvil of Doom, and killing 66% of all the stunties it touches?
Edit: on second thought, this thread has no place here, unless you're suggesting an alternative rule. If you're asking what to do about it, this ought to be in the tactics section. If you're just ranting, as you say, it has no place on the forums.

Comet can be frustrating. I lost two units of state troops and the warrior priests in them to a comet because I tried to get past it before it blew. Many dies, and then the remaining ran right off the darn table. I'm in the habit of bringing a scroll for just this sort of occasion. Comet takes planning and a bit of luck on the part of your opponent, so if you can disrupt his plans and deploy to minimize his targets, it can be avoided.
