So, I'm sick of paying 205 points for Sammael's jetbike in 1850 point games and losing him to a couple bolter shots. I'd like to try some games using an army more centered around the Deathwing, but not pure Deathwing. I feel like I need some speed to contest objectives, especially as I play a lot of fast armies....Eldar and Dark Eldar.

So, I've started an army list below, but I keep second guessing how to close. Any advice would be appreciated.

Belial: TH/SS
Terminator Squad: CF/SB, PF/SB, TH/SS/CML, TLC, TH/SS/Apothecary
Land Raider Crusader

Deepstriking Terminator Squads (3, each equipped as follows)
TH/SS/CML, TH/SS, TLC, CF/SB, PF/SB

This takes me to 1365 points.

I am leaning towards:
5 man tactical squad with Flamer - 95
Razorback (TLC/SB) - 85

Predator: TLC/SB - 110

Landspeeder Typhoon - 75

Bike Squad (3 man - use to guide in the termis) - 120

Any ideas?

He's going for 1850
I would try and cut back on other stuff to give the predator sponson lascannons as well

You put sammael in bolter range?

The key to deathwing is half the points on termies and then the rest on supporting firepower, in my humble opinion.
Half points is 4 CML squads for 235 pts, apoth. and banner added as well, I have no time for storm bolters as their targets effect the CML's choice of target.
Then 3 typhoons, Belial and then 2 auto/las preds may fill up the points if you go the pred route.

Good luck

Dualwing takes a good number of points to work well. It may be you were playing too smaller games where it does not quite gel.

My 1850 Deathwing list is:
Belial THSS
5 termie squads, all with 4THSS and sarge with CF/SB, with one THSS having a cyclone
One of those squads upgrades 2 of the THSS to have the banner and apothicary upgrade.
2 single landspeeders with missiles and multimeltas, a great value
6 bike squad with 2 melta and pfist sarge, with attached multimelta attack bike.

Edit: Now, using a deathwing army is tricky, and with the more recent faq taking away scoring from attack bikes that must still combat squad, utilizing the army to the fullest can be a game in itself. Also, lots of stormshields I feel is mandatory. With a hard cap of 5 models, having an abundance of storm shields lets the unit deal with certian elite powerweapon units. Finally, mixing in non fist/chainfist/hammers is also a mistake in my opinion. For one, you dont have grenades standard, so if you go into terrain you lose your init 4. For two, when you run into one of several multiwound units, the power weapons at init4 simply go on the same models that your fists will be going on--aka you do less damage by equiping claws even if you deal more wounds.

Seems good, but you'll need to make sure that the terminator squad's are near the objectives as this seems to be an all out at the enemy army

I have now actually properly read the first post.

lasbacks with a meltagun is the way to do your tac. squad. Lasbacks do fit nicely into the whole 6'' and shooting motif.

You move 6'' eventually you'll end up where you need to be with objectives. Then moving fearless termies off an objective is an effort for the enemy.

Also Deathwing has some very versitile deployment options with bikes, so I would definately put bikes in any list with termies. And because of the 'half rounded up' when deathwing assaulting, 5 or 3 units need to be deepstriking to get maxiumum benefit.

Thanks for the feedback so far. I appreciate all the ideas.

As far as Terminator Composition - I've gone after 5 separate units in each squad because I really like the individual allocation of wounds. I haven't done the math, but I seem to lose fewer individuals by rolling separately. I do love the TH/SS set-up though...my other army is Salamanders.

It sounds as if people's recommendations are that I make my supporting units to the termis more consistent. Rather than tac squad, predator, typhoon and minimum size bike squad....go for bike squad and typhoons, or tac squad and multiple predators. I'll have to play around with my options. The other thing I had considered was mutiple Venerable Dreadnoughts with long-range firepower.

Thanks again.
