What did they? I imagined something like the sslyth from DE but with necron guass guns, what do you guys think?

Two questions, what the hell is a laer, and why the hell would they have necron tech?

Yes, the Sslyth. Pretty sure they're meant to be Laer, just renamed because hey, it's been 10,000 years since they were encountered.

They wouldn't be using Necron tech though, because they're not Necrons.

The Laer were the alien race that Fulgrim and the Emperors Children fought and destroyed in the Book 'Fulgrim' in the Horus Herest Series. They were a species in the worship of Slaanesh and modified themselves to better suit their role in society

I imagined them as a cross between the Sslyth and the ravagers in the Tyranid range, mostly due to the whole modification aspect of them, similar to the ways Tyranids can 'evolve' over time to suit a purpose. As for the Tech, I don't beleive it to be Necron due to the difficulty most races have using it and the general lack of Necron precence in the 30K timeline, but more akin to the Eldar technology but obviously with differences so as not to be too much akin to them.

It just seems very similar because both weapons harness green energy that strip a target apart down to its atoms.

Very similar yes. The same? No. I imagine they would look just about the same but to say the Laer use necron weapons is basicallly impossible in my opinion. Necrons don't just abandon their weapons on planets. The Laer planet cannot have any Necrons unless they had been submerged by the oceans, and then they Laer couldn't have gone down and found any of them beneath the planet's surface without waking the Legions.

Well the book said what they looked like in great detail.
They had a snake lower body and a torso with four arms,they had fly like insect heads and some had bee wings.
Think along the lines of a tyranid just more bug like.

As for the weapons,not necron weapons,just they built a gun that does the same any race can do that,the Mechanicum could build that if they tried giving the time.

I never thought it was the same gun I just thought it was remarkably similar
