I want to put my Wolf Lord in runic armour on the chaos lord base, with the rocky outcrop, but I don't know if this is tournament legal?
It's purely for aesthetic pruposes, recreating the front cover of the False Gods novel.
Any help would be appreciated
I know it's likely down to the tournament organiser, but a general consensus on here will dictate whether I put the model on the terminator base in the first place.

TO's option, really.
In general though it'd be a bit dodgy, ruleswise, as he was supplied with a smaller base, and the Book says that's the one you're supposed to use.
I'd be fine playing against him on a bigger base, as long as he didn't have any abilities that read 'all models in base contact', but other players might not.

If you are concerened about it then you could use magnets to switch him between bases.
As pure rules though go, he must be on the base provided. You are also correct though that a TO might override this and say ok. You may also consider getting some cork and making a rocky outcrop to put him on on the standard base.

I would say probably not for tourney play. For example, he now gets a further disembark and therefore a further assault threat range when disembarking from an assault vehicle or a transport that hasn't moved. Also, less models around him are hit by template/blast weapons. In friendly play I would be fine with it, but I would say magnetize the bases to be safe in tourney play. Personally, I would not let the model be used as runic armor in tourney play if it had a 40mm base for a model which should have a 25mm base, but I would be OK if you upgrade him for terminator armor, even if the model doesn't physically have it or I would let you use a proxy (either of these would probably require TO permission) because you are missing out on using your cool model and you did put a lot of work into him.

Thanks for your replies! They've been very helpful.
I think I will magnetise him to be on the safe side.
The Cork idea is awesome, it hadn't crossed my mind.
I do understand that it gives the model an unfair advantage so I will have a spare base to put him on if need be.
Thanks again!
