I'm trying to build an army of Orges only using the Battalion boxset. I've not played WFB before (only just got the rules and OK army book today, fancied a change from 40k).

I've heard I can get a 1000pt army from the boxset but not sure how.

I'm kitbashing a Butcher, then I'll have...

5 Bulls

6 Iron Guts

4 Leadbellies

There Is also loads of extra Gnoblars, just need some bases and I can build a regiment of 18ish.

My question is, what equipment should I give these guys to get a 1000pt army I can learn the different aspects of WFB with, while also being a good base to build from? I don't really want to buy any more models until I paint these (which will be awhile).

Allright... If you give the full upgrades and the most expensive equipment to every unit, including the 18 gnoblars, you will come out to 825 points. That leaves you with 175 for your kit bash butcher. At 1k points, I might go with a bruiser instead of a butcher, but if you want to have the magic go for the caster.

Give the butcher an extra wizard level and 40 points of equipment to taste.

Yeah I think the Bruiser would be a better choice generally but I think for the purpose of learning different elements of the game a Butcher would be best for now. In a month or so, I'll expand to 1500pts and run both.
