I'm reading the codex and a little confused by the fact that a rough rider can be given a laspistol OR a close combat weapon.

Seeing that both are essentially the same in close combat AND neither one will give a bonus to the initial lance assault (per the codex), given the choice between a laspistol or a CCW, why would you want to give a rough rider a CCW? For the sarge it is a little different, cause his CCW can be a power weapon but...Seems like pistol is the way to go, no doubt. at least for regular riders, huh?

Also let me make sure I understand this correctly how the assault works.....

A 5 model rough rider squad (4 + 1 sarge) make an initial assault.

Each rough rider gets 2 attacks at WS 3 (1 + 1 assault bonus) and the sargeant gets 3 attacks (2 + 1 assault bonus) all power weapon attacks, that is 11 total attacks is that right?
