Hey y'all! First new topic in the painting and modeling forum, just wanted to post up some pictures of my (very) work in progress Space Marine Captain. I wanted a combi-flamer and relic blade weapons loadout on my cappy, and wanted him to be mostly metal, because to be honest, I hate plastics. So I ended up buying a normal veteran on Ebay, and weapon swapping his bolt pistol for a bolter with a flamer on the bottom. Then I attacked, using greenstuff, a cable, which leads to a small flamer tank on his belt. After that I glued a banner to his backpack, and added little doodads on him to make him look a little bigger and better equipped than a normal tactical marine. Here are the pictures:

From the front, sorry for bad pictures they were taken with laptop!

From the side, showing off my deliciously mediocre modeling skills. And yes when I bought the model (off of Ebay) it was primed fire truck red for some reason.

From the other side, showing that he's still holding his big friggin axe. I love this model, especially the details, and the axe just screamed relic blade to me. Also like I said before, the Captain is very very very very WIP, and as I type that I'm working on cleaning him up. CC still appreciated though, love to know what you guys think of the pose and idea! Thanks.

Sorry, it's incredibly hard to distinguish the model.

How thick is the coat? I only ask because, if I had a model that had been primed already that I got off of eBay, I'd strip it first.

Here's a suggestion for taking your pictures using your laptop. Try sitting the model on a platform instead of holding him. Adjust your laptop so you get him in the center of the frame. Snap your picture, then go in and crop it down. That should help your overall picture quality.

Sorry for not commenting on the conversion itself. It is a bit hard to see what you have actually done so far.

Surprisingly for an Ebay model, it was a really thin coat. Every detail down to the smallest (the eyelets of the small skulls inset in the purity seals for example) is uncovered, so I plan to prime over it as in its current state it looks, except for color of course, identical to its unprimed white metal counterpart.

Haha thanks I couldn't get a decent picture with my Itouch (curse you apple!) and so I had to improvise, the camera I have is out of commision right now sadly so I tried using the laptop, but it's not even close. Hopefully that'll make the pictures loads better though!
