Here's a small bit of information on Perturabo gleamed from Deliverance Lost (no real spoiler, don't worry), at the bottom of page 292:

It appears that Perturabo has a greater pain/damage threshold than ordinary Primarchs (so, a lot); it appears that in his genetics Perturabo can resist greater levels of harm and is more aware/in control of his body movements/limbs.
He also appears to either be more aware of pain, or less aware of pain, I'm not entirely sure which...
Either way he possesses "unique sub-complexes and protein strands geared towards physical durability, above and beyond that found in the others."

--------

Not an amazing piece of information I know, nor can I imagine it's of much consequence (Primarchs are tough as nails anyway) but people love discussing the Primarchs and I figured some may like this piece of information.

on the forum. Obviously

So...does that mean iron warriors are slightly tougher than most SM?
I mean, they do come from his gene seed

I guess theoretically they could well be.

Don't go chanting it from the roof's like it's the law (it doesn't specifically mention the Iron Warriors), but certainly, that could be the case...

Interesting. Perturabo has always been a favourite of mine... Wish there was more literature on him.

Cool stuff. That gives me a theory for the IF use of the pain glove and various other "Meditation through pain" things that they do. Perhaps they did this because of their rivalry with the IW? To try and elevate themselves to the same status using techniques that didnt have anything to do with their genetic make-up? Its just a thought though.

Ideas?

Not all that surprising, given that, spelled correctly, his name means in Latin 'I will endure'.

It was the pseudonym of English occultist Aleister Crowley, which is, I strongly suspect, from where the studio originally borrowed it.

Pretty sure it's got a questionable meaning in Spanish though...

@Thatguy: I can't imagine that being the case tbh, the Imperial Fists never really strove to be like the Iron Warriors, they were just rivals. I think the pain glove was really just for that; to inflict self-harm to try and focus their thoughts.
It could be true (though personally I doubt it is), but as you said, it's just speculation...

The idea that all Iron Warriors are therefore tougher does certainly have some credence to it though, IMHO.

Definately. IW and the DG have always been the two toughest legions in my opinion but this may put the IW ahead in my list.

Yeah, what I meant was that because if their rivalry they created all these exercises to prove that they too would not succumb to pain, along with its use as a meditation device. Im sure it would perform both of these tasks as that is what it was made for.

of course this is all speculation, as stated earlier. I just thought it might have been an interesting point of discussion.

It's worth remembering that, at least according to Index Astartes, the Imperial Fists - Iron Warriors rivalry existed, prior to the siege of Terra, only in Perturabo's mind. The Imperial Fists did not see themselves as defensive specialists, they were "the Emperor's Praetorians", employed to strike decisive blows. Dorn's principal traits were his loyalty and humility; I would be inclined to think those were what earned the Imperial Fists the honour of defending Terra.

As far as I remember, it just mentions the numbers of the caskets, rather than the actual names of the Primarchs. Are we sure Gav didn't just get the number wrong, and was intending to refer to Mortarion??

Given the amount of OTHER oversights in that book, I wouldn't be surprised....!

I'm aware, but after getting the other two right, I figured he'd probably get Perturabo right too. It makes sense, also.

I don't necessarilly take it as him being tougher than the other primarchs, just that he is able to endure the pain through superior willpower. Iron within, after all.

Except the above basically says he can, not even through willpower, but physicality.

Perturbar is the Spanish verb "to disturb"

You could then speculate that Perturabo is an ofshoot of this, meaning "Disturber" or "Disturbed".

Probably not though, I don't recall Perturabo ever being disturbed.
