No, not a UK company. Yes, they're pricey. But they produce the best damn dice I've ever seen. My gaming group pooled for an order and we never regretted our purchases even once.
Also, just listen to that man!
All hail The Colonel!

Casino dice will be expensive, but they are pretty much garunteed to be perfectly balanced and fair.
If you look for just regular old dice, not wargaming dice, you should find true cubes. I got some fairly cheap square edged dice in a game shop.

Yes, casino dice all have square corners, and are easy to find on the internet.
I've got to ask, though, are you sure you want square dice? The problem with square dice is that the edges wear down, and not in a manner which is controllable or predictable. Square dice may start out nice, but they will quickly begin to warp.
I mean, just look at casinos. They have the square edges to ensure that they're really random, but they also change out their dice with new once sometimes as often as once per hour because the corners get chipped and the edges wear down.
If you're looking for truly random dice that will STAY random over long periods of time, what you're actually looking for is dice with ROUNDED edges. For example, look for backgammon dice. They can also be made to very exacting standards, but won't break down nearly so badly over time. I have two pair of Zontik backgammon dice that are as beautiful as they were expensive. I don't use it for all my rolls, of course, as I only have 4 of them, but when I'm rolling just a few dice (like vehicle penetrations, etc. You know, when just a few dice will actually matter), it's nice to have something that doesn't have the same blatantly idiotic performance as chessex cubes.

Square dice can also have an issue with rolling. They can just plop down and never roll(which means it is possable to do trick rolls)
Beveled edge dice are going to last longer and you can get good nice rolls out of them.

I have been to tourneys who ban casino die for the reason Grey Templar mentioned about the plop down and die tricks. We also saw a player shaving in certain sides so to change the dimensions of the die for better rolls to his favored results.

yeah, sometimes I'll give my square dice a good roll down the table and they will stop quite suddenly before momentum has fully been spent.
My FoW dice on the other hand(bevelled edges) will roll clean off the table.
I guess that is one advantage to square dice. you don't have to chase them very far.

Definitively. It actually took me some time getting used to how little space I need now! At first I was all disappointed because it looks like you just "drop" the dice rather than really throwing them.
If you want truly random dice, just have a look for clear dice with their numbers painted on them, without any drill holes. If there are no air bubbles inside, you are pretty much save from any numbers being rolled more often than others. Edges have a bearing on the result if the are irregular, square or rounded doesn't matter.
7 Ork facts people always get wrong: Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other. A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot. Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests. Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books. Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor. Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers. Orks do not have the power of believe.

I've talked to the man a number of times at GenCon, and not just when he's doing his dice "sales pitch." He's got some interesting stories. Our gaming group all has at least one set of his Gamescience dice for D&D. I can't speak highly enough about them.
You have to be careful with used casino dice, because they usually will drill a hole in them for resale. Also, arnt casino dice rather large? Also the price is a problem as well. Sure you can say "well we spend X amount on our armies" but youve got to realize many armies out there will need a lot of dice to make their rolls go quicker. I have 70 dice for my Orks, and when I used to play strait slugga boyz, it wasnt enough. So yea, $20 bucks per 6, when you need 30+ is quite a bit of money just for dice.

Casinos also throw out decks after they're used once. They don't use anything long enough for it to get worn. Chorus girls being the exception...

Anyways, I've played with Kopchow brand dice which aren't too bad, and are much more reasonably priced. Otherwise, I've only seen Zontik and Game Science.
The thing about dice, though, is that they're expensive, but they're also highly durable. This isn't spending 15 quid for you and a mate to see a film, it's for something that you'll use for hundreds of hours and will outlast your grandchildren.
In a world of renting movies on netflix and $1 iTunes downloads, it's easy to forget the value of durable goods. Take the high cost and divide it by the amount of use you'll get from them over the long term, and you can see why it's worth it.
That and how much frustration it will save you once you make the upgrade from chessex.
Don't get casino dice - they are quite large compared to what we typically use for 40k and were designed to roll on crap tables, not gaming tables. Because its hard to spin casino dice enough when rolling them on a gaming tabletop (not a craps table) you tend to get odd results. I say this based on experience and have a good number of casino dice I packed away several years ago and don't use anymore. Game Science has very good straight edged dice designed for gaming tables. If you decide to go with Game Science don't purchase dice with pips silk screened on as they will to fade away over a couple years of use.
