Subject: Good conversion bits for making DKOK and Greatcoat Guardsmen?
*as a note to mods, if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move it or lock it. This seemed like the most relevant place to put it, but I'm new so I may have missed a subforum that this is supposed to go in*
Pretty much what the title says. I've just started IG and at my FLGS, and we already have FIVE IG players who all play Cadians. Our store is really supportive of customizing armies and proxy's though, so I've been brainstorming on how to make a cool DKoK-styled army. As long as they don't cost as much as FW Death Knights of Krieg, cost isn't a huge issue, as I'm figuring by the time I buy all the seperate bitz, these guys will run roughly the same as GW guardsmen. BUT! They won't be Cadians, so I'll chalk it up as a win. They don't have to be exact DKoK lookalikes, I'd just like them to look like they're at least from a neighboring planet or something.
I've worked out that I need 3 things in order to pull it off...
1. Greatcoat bodies/legs/torsos
2. Heads that have German style helmets and some sort of gas mask.
3. Either a good way to buy lasguns in bulk, or find a cool substitution that is fairly close. I'll probably buy Cadian Lasgun arms in bulk for this, as they're fairly close to what Krieg arms look like anyway and most of them come with bayonets. It will also help in making my guys easier to recognize for my opponent when they have the official GW weapons.
I'm still very new to the hobby though and am not very familiar with all of the various bitz manufacturers, although I've been doing a lot of research. Big things I've been searching for are WWII style german troops and "sci fi Greatcoat troopers" as well as variations on those names. I was hoping eventually this thread could eventially be a kind of reference post for people making Krieg styled armies. That way, when everyone is looking for cool conversion bitz for DKoK, we can have them all in one spot. I'll even edit in all links posted in the thread to the OP with credit to who mentioned them if you guys would like.
Without further ado, here's what I've found so far. They'll be separated into 2 categories, one for heads, and one bodies/full troopers. Other than that, they'll be organized by company. I can also put basic feedback next to each company's name if anyone has experience with them. I've only tried one of these companies (Wargames Factory) so unfortunately I can't put in much input.
Bitz and figures are organized by company first, then specific bits underlined underneath, with a link to each.
Max Mini (two of our veteran players love this company and say they make great stuff. I haven't gotten to try anything yet, but I'm probably going to order some soon)
*"German Style WWII Heads" (Basic Resin heads, no gas masks)http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=22_23&products_id=109 *"Tox Guardsmen Heads" (No helmets, might make good conscripts/penal Legion) http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=22_23&products_id=18
Wargames Factory (These will be your cheapest option most likely, I've used these guys and they're a mixed bag. On one hand, you get great value for your money, at 18 guys for $20 bucks, and even cheaper on some resellers. You get a ridiculous 14 heads on each sprue, with enough of each kind to field all 18 with the same type of heads, ranging from Helghast knockoffs to pretty cool Chaos renegade heads! They also come with decent auto/shotguns if you need those for your vets, as well as a basic flamer and GL. However, the 6 sprues in the box are all copies of the 1st sprue, and the bodies can be a little underwhelming. That said, these guys will work if you absolutely need to field a cheap army, or would like a cool way to throw some conscripts/penal legion troops on the field. Basically, you get what you paid for)
*"Sci-Fi Greatcoat Troopers" (these are your basic troopers that I described above. Good value, but they aren't going to muscle forgeworld outta the market anytime soon if you get what I mean)http://wargamesfactory.com/webstore/alien-suns/shock-troops-sci-fi-greatcoat-troopers *[u]"Shock Troop Heavy Weapons" (The box is misleading, you actually get 3 Heavy weapon teams AND 2 officers. That said, the weapons are hit and miss. The mortar and assault/Autocannon look cool, while the missile Launcher and Lascannon are kind of meh. Deffinitely look at them before you buy) http://wargamesfactory.com/webstore/alien-suns/shock-troop-heavy-weapons-1
Feel free to post anything else that you think would look cool with a DKoK army, as well as point out any mistakes/errors in my post. By the way, it doesn't matter what you're posting, it can be as simple as shovels or as involved as an artillery piece, if it looks cool for DKoK post it and I'll add it to the list (with credit given to you of course! ) Also, any critique on the list would be appreciated, like if you'd like me to remove the little commentary I put next to each link, if you'd like me to mention what each piece is made out of, prices, etc.
Thanks for any help you guys feel like giving, I'll appreciate it and I'm sure there are plenty of other players who will as well!

Wait, so are you trying to convert Death Korps of Krieg or greatcoat guard? The two are different, if you want people to say "Oh ok, those are DKoK" then you either need really damned good sculpting skills or you have to buy the FW minis, otherwise, all you have is greatcoat guard.

I see your point. I wish I was awesome enough to actually convert to Death Korps of Krieg, but I'll probably end up making some sort of greatcoat guard unit that looks close to them. I probably should've been more clear on that in the OP. Forgive me, I was caught up in the moment as I looked all the cool greatcoat models!
Changed the title of the thread, and I'll edit the OP to be more clear. Thanks for the heads up

Not exactly greatcoats, but for a dirt cheap option for WW1 themed sci fi soldiers you have Warzone plastic soldiers. Not the prettiest or customizable of models but you cant beat €19.95 for two packs of 40 guys, each with a different style

Also if you want a lot of greatcoat bodies (at the expense of possible scale issues) then victrix french guard are brimming with them

I have to admit, I kind of want to get these guys just for the weapons they have, although the minis themselves are pretty cool as well. Don't know if they'd be useable with my army, but they'd be fun to paint regardless!
Also, has this game company been around for a while? I was looking on their site and some of their miniatures seem to be quite old. They definitely have a unique vibe to them.

The Victrix miniatures while good are more towards true 28mm scale than GW miniatures which are of a heroic scaling. That being said, they will look good but will be visibly out of scale when placed next to other miniatures.
You say that I am crazy. I say that you are right!

The company itself is defunct, back in thee olden days there were plenty of warhammer 40k expies or at least modeling companies that took some cues from them. As time worn on, a lot of these disappeared or turned to more smaller scaled stuff (such as Urban War/Void)
Prince August just has their casting equipment and produces them
