i was talking to someone about our lists. he plays elder and i play mech bangels (BA). as always we were both just ranting about how mine is better, can do this and that (we should just really play already), but one thing that kept coming up was his farseer gives a 3+ cover saves to units close by.

if i get rid of him first in a shooting phase does the cover save stay in play (like feel no pain when a sang priest dies first in assault) or does it go away?

Farseers do not have anything to grant nearby units a 3+ coversave. Warlocks with the conceal power can grant their unit a permanent cover save, and Farseers can cast a power to allow units to re-roll saves.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

It seems someone has been decieving you, intentionally or unintentionally you should ask to see the rule in their codex the next time you play.

What they all said. Your friend seems confused on the rules or he explained it weird to you ("its effectively a 3+ cover save due to re-rolls" or something).

To answer the question, hypothetically, though: it would depend on how it was worded. If it was Storm Caller (a Space Wolf psychic power), the cover goes away when the Rune Priest does. So if you killed the Rune Priest, you can't measure 6" from him, so no one gets a cover save. If the power was worded like "until end of turn, " then it would last even if if the Farseer died.

Generally speaking though, if something is removed from play, the things it was providing are gone too. If it was the same unit as the Farseer, well you already shot at them so he still gets the cover save from those initial shots (there is no Initiative order in the shooting phase) but subsequent shots would not.

Hope that wasn't more confusing!

Yeah that was a great help.

p.s Sorry for confusing you all. it would be a warlock or whoever ability, not a farseers. i don't play elder so don't really remember who gives what ability. I just destroy them.
