Bought a box of these to fill out my IG units. Here's my gripes:

All the heads face the same direction. Could they have least moved one of the figs heads sideways for variation, like he was shooting?

The Las rifle detail is not as complete as the regular squad set. A slot with knob is missing from the magazine well. Why?
Did they rescupt this from scratch instead of using one the original lasguns pattern?

What's with the "push-in" method with the hole in the chest to accept the peg from the lasrifle arm? They say it for ease of assembly for those new to modelling, but no beginner is going to start an IG army with this pack, and even if they do, they are going to have to buy the main set of models with all the trimmings anyway to field a army to play. What is a beginner modeler going to do with this half-squad of grunts that has with no Sgt? And no rules to use them as such?

If GW had an IG battle-game starter set like AOBR. I could see the utility of this booster. But it really is poor product that gets buried behind all the other IG sets for sale.

To be honest you get what you pay for. In AUS these are about $14, and the full kit is $48. The AoBR marines are pretty much the same state, very cheap but there really isn't much modelling or converting going on.

I have bought 3 packs of those already and getting ready to buy a 4th. I already have 3 normal 10 man squad kits that have integrated these packs into. I think they blend in quite well. Heck, for $8 for 5 men instead of $30 for 10 is a great price and way to keep building the army on a tight budget!

The pack is only really desinged to bulk out an existing force. I've got friends who only ever use them to test new paint schemes on, so we generally refer to them as testers.

I've only ever bought one pack myself but probably have about 30 of these guys in my army thanks to gifts and second hand bulk purchases, at normal game distances amongst 3000 points of foot guard you can't really spot them.

I alway thought the peg system was for younger gamers, who are not allowed to play with glue

As long as you can make as many sargents as possible out of the "full" infantry squads you have, those are actually a really cheap way of bulking out squads.
£11 for a ten man squad aint bad

They're a decent way to bulk out big squads for cheap as possible. Also, if you just want to pick up something cheap to paint up, they're a good buy.

IIRC, they were created to sell in toy stores, so people who wandered into a non-hobby shop could pick up a box or two and get lured in that way.
