preferred enemy: ... such troops can always re-roll their rolls to hit in close combat againse...
warptime: ...the psyker may re-roll all rolls to hit and rolls to wound...
Based on the latest CSM FAQ, warptime must reroll all dice or no dice.
My question is: Does the preferred enemy rule allow the units to pick and choose which to hit dice he will reroll?

Correct, the word "all" makes the difference.

You have two sources of the re-roll - preferred enemy and warptime (can you get preferred enemy on a unit with warptime?).
Anyway, you can choose to re-roll ALL the hit dice for warptime or you can re-roll your failed hits for preferred enemy. Elect not to re-roll ALL the dice and instead elect to re-roll the failed hits form preferred enemy.
I think this works, I am sure one of the smarter regular dakka posters will either confirm or deny this.
Edit: D'oh I misread the question, what I said still stands, preferred enemy lets you choose!

With preferred enemy you can even re-roll your dice that score a hit if you wish. Not that many people actually do this, but it can be done.

I've done it with my BT before. Mainly because I don't want to wipe out the enemy squad on my turn.
As for the OP: PE lets you choose which hits/misses you want to reroll. The FAQ for warptime (unfortunately) says "all" so you have to pick up all the dice and reroll them.

Sorry about my poor english XD
So, if a unit has preferred enemy rule, it can choose which dice ( failed or not) to reroll, right?
Thank you guys

Yes, some people also choose to re-roll if hte weapon is rending to try and get a 6.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Apple...that is correct. Preffered enemy lets you choose what dice you reroll.
Say I have 5 templar termis w/ PE that charged with 2 LC each. That's 20 attacks. I charge some BA assault marines, 10 guys 1 PW. Now I roll to hit and get 18 hits out of 20. Normally a very good roll. But he has a vindicator nearby and I don't want to loose the squad. I can pick up 12 of those hits and none of the misses and reroll. Now I score 12 hits total. Yes I should still win the assault but he may not run away and thus save my terminators.

Rending works off of wounding now, not the to hit roll.
