Alright, its a month away and if I get this to work I have to buy and build and prime some things at minimum. Luckily you don't get disqualified for not being fully painted, and most opponents won't be painted at all so I won't be losing many points for that (its more like bonus points if I was painted).
Do not waste your breath by suggesting I scrap the idea behind the list entirely!
Criticism and suggestions and observations about the list are what is desired. This list is very obviously a certain type of list, to be played in an aggressive manner. Do not waste everyone's time by making suggestions that require fundamentally altering the list (i.e. ditch all the Drop Pods and bring all Rhinos/Razorbacks instead).
Ideally, I'd love to be taking Ragnar Blackmane as I think he could give me the oomph in close combat I need. But he's expensive. I'm not certain if 4 Drop Pods are enough on Turn 1 at 1750 points or not. It would be plenty at 1500. 6 is the max you can do on one Force Organisation chart but that seems overkill. I'd like to reach 5 but I don't want to gimp myself. Only way to do that though is to drop Wolf Guard (or at least some), which means I need Mark of the Wulfen/Power Weapons and more bodies added to the Grey Hunters... Argh!
So before I go on about rough tactics, here is the list:
1 Wolf Guard Battle Leader - 100
Combi-Melta, Wolfclaw
1 Rune Priest - 100
Fury of the Wolf Spirits, Jaws of the World Wolf
Wolf Guard - 250
1 with Power Armor, Combi-Flamer, Power Fist
1 with Terminator Armor, Combi-Plasma, Chainfist
1 with Terminator Armor, Combi-Plasma, Wolf Claw
1 with Terminator Armor, Combi-Plasma, Power Fist
1 with Terminator Armor, Assault Cannon, Power Weapon
1 Dreadnought - 155
Multi-Melta, Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon w/ Built in Storm Bolter, Extra Armor, Drop Pod
1 Dreadnought - 155
Multi-Melta, Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon w/ Built in Storm Bolter, Extra Armor, Drop Pod
10 Grey Hunters - 200
Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
7 Grey Hunters - 155
Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
7 Grey Hunters - 160
Plasma Gun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
7 Grey Hunters - 160
Plasma Gun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
7 Grey Hunters - 160
Plasma Gun, Wolf Standard, Drop Pod
8 Blood Claws - 155
Flamer, Drop Pod
Total Points: 1750
Really wish I could bring a Long Fang pack. I'd even put them in a pod, just 3 HB and 2 MM and make sure they come down in the first wave. Costs 190 points but it wouldn't be that bad, given the other targets. But all well.
I have 4 Drop Pods that can come in. Tactics are dictated by the opponent and if there are objectives (won't know the missions until game time). If the enemy reserves his army, awesome. I will set up a fort in his deploy zone. If not, I will pick a point in his line and throw my army at it. If he's mech, I have 4 units with Meltaguns coming in. If he's horde, well i wish I could afford Heavy Flamers on the Dreadnoughts but I also have some Blood Claws that are going to speed bump anyways.
I feel the Wolf Guard are necessary but I probably don't need to bring 5. I just feel naked without an Assault Cannon. I may have to just suck it up and streak.
So what do you think? More pods? Less pods? More Ragnar? Less Guard?

Thinking of it over night and I don't need 6 troops and 8 pods I don't think.

1 Land Speeder Tornado - 70
Multi-Melta, Heavy Flamer
Total Points: 1744
I may or may not miss the Assault Cannon. I figure for the initial wave I'll want more Melta, and I may as well make it Melta that will last since it will take more than a turn to blow away a pack of Grey Hunters (usually). Depending on the opponent I'll probably try to get Ragnar down on turn 1.
I suppose I could drop 3 Grey hunters from one of the Meltagun packs and bring a Wolf Guard with Combi-Melta and then I can fit Ragnar, and maybe the Rune Priest on turn 1 while keeping all Melta on the ground.
So, does the revision spur anything or shall I be alone in working on this? lol

Things of note:
1) In this second list, you're putting Ragnar in a unit that cannot assault if it shoots its special weapon...switch the unit to a Melta gun and make the 10 man squads have the plasmas while the 7 man squads have meltas.
2) Terminator Armor isn't doing much for you at all. You may as well drop it due to the fact that when you hit, you want to keep moving and Sweeping Advances are going to be either keeping you in combat or destroying units rather than giving the opponent to gun you down with a depleted unit.
3) Your Powers are well...they're no good really. Forcing a Morale check is nice and all but realistically won't do much for you. Jaws...well in my opinion it is the single most overrated Psychic Power in the codex. Lightning and Hurricane would be better choices in my book. Lightning for popping those targets that get away from you, Hurricane for slowing down that assault unit from mauling your fresh infantry units.
4) The Land Speeder is a free Kill Point if anything. Save those 70 points for something else.
5) The Dreads are okay...I just feel like they should be lending some range fire support as just having them as melta platforms seems pointless with the amount of Melta you could be pouring out from other places.
It has promise; however, you need to capitalize on the punishing first wave to make it work.

1) I realized that problem with Ragnar as I was posting the list. Do you think I should be bringing 2 Melta in each squad that has a Meltagun? If so, Combi-Melta toting Wolf Guard will be needed, so I need a home for the third Wolf Guard but that shouldn't be too hard. 2) You are right about the Terminator Armor. I'm so used to bringing it I overlooked the Sweeping Advance rule. With Furious Charge that rule is even stronger for me than usual. I'll need to build more Power Armored Wolf Guard! 3) I agree with you completely about JotWW. I normally never take it and usually recommend other people take something more useful. I should follow my own advice! For whatever reason I was thinking it might be useful since I'll be so close to the enemy, but Murderous Hurricane would serve me better probably. I'd like to keep FotWS. I think the morale test will be useful, but then I suppose there are a lot of fearless units. My usual setup will probably serve well here then, with Living Lightning and Murderous Hurricane. Luckily the powers don't cost any points! 4) It was point filler anyways, and I can use the points smarter. More bodies where possible, Mark of the Wulfen, and Power Weapons... 5) Extra Armor and Heavy Flamers are the only things I really would want to do to them. I dislike the idea of deploying just them on the table and using empty pods, and since I'll be fairly close (and if not have an 18" Melta threat range) and it costs nothing I like the Multi-Meltas. I don't think TLAC or TLLC will serve me dramatically better. What would say about having two WGBL instead of a Wolf Guard pack? Would the IC rules and points not be worth it? Edit: nevermind, I think the price for two would push me over since it would be like 100 points for one. Edit Edit: I suppose the Living Lightning from the Rune Priest could 'count as' one of my anti-tank shots. Just would suck against AV14/13. Automatically Appended Next Post: Ragnar Blackmane - 240

Better? Thinking of replacing one of the Plasma Gun Grey Hunter packs with another Melta pack (though in honestly I'll probably make it a Blood Claw pack just because of available models). Would have 30-35 extra points if i do that.
