Had a heated discussion around the gaming table about this topic as im sure some of you guys have...

Can a nob be targeted in CC when he is in a boyz unit, and if so, why?

I'm sure the topic has been raised way too often, and if you guys know of a thread that has the answer, so much the better.

Sorry for posting a subject that's so common, but my search skills are less then perfect and i couldn't find a thread on it.

No. He is not an IC, he's an upgrade character and those are not targetable except where explicitly allowed.

Nobs are part of the unit. There are no rules that give you permission to single out a Nob in close combat.

You have to kill all the other boyz if you want to get rid of that Power Klaw.

Well... Not entirely. He could force enough wounds on the unit so that he has to put one or more on the nob and the nob could die that way.

no a nob is not a IC

You can only target models that aren't IC's if you have abilities, shots, or powers that can target MODELS. The nob is just a Sargent, just like how a space marine Sargent with a power fist in a unit of tacticals can't be singled out.
