So, I recently stopped listening to 40k Radio because the rant about how bad Sisters of Battle are, how much Romeo hates female models, and how he likes to file the breasts off female models to make them male creeped the beejeesus out of me. Then I drifted away from 40k and spent some time playing Warmachine and Hordes (and listening to Lost Hemisphere). Now a lot of my friends are picking up 40k, and it's drawing me back in the Dark Millennia's direction. I'd love to have a podcast to complement my obsession - has anyone got any suggestions?

The production values must be high enough that I can listen while I drive. The content must not be creepy. Besides that, I'm not terribly picky. The podcast doesn't even need to be exclusively 40k. I'd be happy with one that was also Fantasy, and I wouldn't mind if it included a little bit about Warmahordes (though I already have Lost Hemisphere for that). I mean, I'd like it to be a good podcast, but otherwise I'm not picky.

The Independent Characters are worth a listen. They do excellent reviews of the IA books, are fairly knowledgible about the 40k armies that they play (a little weak on ones they don't see much), and do coverage of events like Adepticon.

The only other one I listen to is 40k Radio. Kyle is so dreamy!

I'm a fan of Screaming Heretic, but I'm not sure if the content would count as "creepy" to you. The humor gets a bit raunchy at times, though they've never threatened to file off anyone's boobs . It's a bit more of a hobby podcast than a strategy podcast, but they're pretty diverse. They also cover a bit of HordeMachine along with 40k, so that might tip the scales a bit for you. I will say that the production values can be hit or miss between the different episodes (sometimes it's perfect, other times you wonder if they forgot how to set up their equipment), and they do get off topic quite a bit.

The 11th Company is a good 40k podcast. Focus seems to be competitive tourney play, but still has good info. They can be a bit critical of some units, as they only see them through tourney colored glasses, but no filing off boobs or anything. They have good production and sound, though they can run a bit long in some episodes.

If you want raunchy childish 40k radio, Life After the Cover Save has all you need. They get off track real easy and sometimes can go 45 minutes or more not talking about 40k and instead focusing on base bodily functions and video games. All the same, they can be incredibly funny in a crude way, but funny none-the-less. Not a PG podcast or even remotely worksafe.

Will have to second Kronks assessment of Independent Characters.

Have not listened to 40k Radio.

Hope it helps.

I really like the 11th Company and the Overlords.

As was previously mentioned, the 11th company is very informative, especially from a tournament gameplay perspective, and entertaining at the same time.

The Overlords are a fun, enjoyable and informative podcast. They concentrate more on the fun of the hobby (outside of tournaments mostly) and talk about many aspects of it.

If I were you, I'd download one episode to trial run the affore mentioned podcasts and if they are your type of thing then there you go.

I'll throw my vote in for The Independent Characters - but then I might be a little biased. A little.

Thanks. Glad you like it! I think in particular our Baddab War coverage was pretty good. I dont recall the episode numbers but they are still available.

They're the only gaming podcast I listen to. I've tried listening to a few others, but none of them clicked for me, either because the sound quality was too poor, the hosts were trying too hard to be wacky/funny, or the content just wasn't there. The Independent Characters have really good audio quality, solid discussion, and hosts who can still crack jokes but aren't trying to constantly one-up each other. There's also a nice community built around the show, with somewhat active forums, Facebook page, contests, and so on. I highly recommend them!

+1 for the Screaming Heretic. In a world dominated by podcasts geared towards gameplay and competitive gaming, the SH has just the right amount of humour and hobby goodness that makes it one of my favourit podcasts. They do tend to go off topic though, but is still interesting regardless.

I have found 2 ways to do it (been listening to them for a while):

1. Type in the word "Podcasts" in the search box at the top right. It will show them 5 at a time. Just hit the tag titled "<<Older Entries" to scroll back 5 at a time. I used this when I was traveling and needed something to listen to in my hotel room.

2. Go to their iTunes listing. I just did a search for Independent Characters and filtered for podcasts only. Then, I subscribed to them. I listen to them through iTunes while I'm painting.

I hope that helps.>

Just so you are aware Romeo isn't the host anymore , but you can tell by his personality that even though he said he won't be hosting he will insert himself in the show. But, in their newest episode there is 90% less Romeo.

+ 1 for the Overlords, I like the fact that its not all tourney focused. They even do hobby segments!
