I'm most of the way through Void Stalker now, enjoying it though not as much as the other two. I miss the Exalted void battles

On the subject of continuity and BL, that really does frustrate me when the authors muck stuff around, especially if it's for a weaker plot than the original plot. I think we'd be better served waiting a long time and having a smaller stable of higher quality authors.

If you don't want a book spoiled, maybe don't read threads discussing new releases from it's publisher until you've read it.

Just a thought.

My thoughts on the ending of Void Stalker:

Spoiler:
As I was reading the book, I became aware that ADB had followed a pretty clever arc with the books. In the first book, he made me care about a bunch of traitorous heretics. In the second book, he made me cheer for them when they succeeded. And in the third book, he started driving home what a bunch of degenerate, evil bastards they were, and how their redeeming qualities were nothing but a thin veneer over a rotting core. I was really starting to despise them all, towards the end. So the actual end, with Talos planning the destruction of his company all along, having had enough of the endless corruption, was awesome. And his death, perfect. I was a little miffed at how the Uzas/Cyrion plot ended, and how rushed it was in the book- I thought both characters were really interesting (especially Uzas) and would have liked to have seen that fleshed out more.) What really galled me though, more than anything, was the third epilogue. I just felt that it wasn't needed and I would have been much happier with the idea that it ended somewhat ambiguously. Flat out stating that yep, Variel was successful and Octavia and Septimus's son gains Talos's geneseed was, to me, extremely lame. Almost fan fiction. A shame, because the rest of the series was a brilliant example of how to write the evil and horror of the 40K universe well and still have it be satisfying and emotionally captivating the whole way through.
