I have been given the task of constructing a super-heavy empire steam tank for a scenario game some friends and I are putting together. I have a good amount of experience with plasticard, and have even scratch built a titan. The one thing that has escaped me so far has been how to bend plasticard to a specific form. I'm familiar with processes for steaming and bending wood. Soak it in steam for an amount of time, set it in a form, and let it cool/dry. It will keep its shape. Is there any similar process for bending and shaping plasticard? I would love to get the same curved plates as a steam tank for this giant model, but I just cant get uniform pieces.

Does anyone have any good method for achieving this effect? Can it be acomplished by a process similar to shaping wood? Perhaps if I baked them in an oven and placed them into a carved wooden form? I'm just wary of melting plastic in my oven...

What are your thoughts?

-Jim

^This.

Either hot water, a heat gun or hairdryer and a form to shape it over.

NOT direct flame.

This was retail for $20.00 and Michael's always has a %40 or %50 off coupon.

I bent the Carnifex tail in under 20 seconds with this, then plunged the tail into cool water to set the plastic in its new shape.

If you need to bend & shape plastic go buy one.
