Subject: WIP Ork/Lizard looted Steggadon

Secret Inquisitorial Eldar Xenexecutor

Having been watching the lizard men in 40k thread here the last few days and in the process of looting a steggadon for my evil sunz army I resolved to have it crewed by a conquered faction that are now steam rollered in the the waagh. Background is that the Ork waaaagh rolled onto a tribal world of gifted psykers who could adapt rapidly to technological and environmental input whilst retaining their primitive natures, sadly for the primitive their world housed a tomb of sleeping Necrons and the arrival of the waagh and Necrons came in one almighty near-extinction event. Whilst reports of the battle are overtly exaggerated from Ork to Ork the fact remains that when the dust settled the tomb world was stripped and looted, the natives either killed, enslaved or conscripted and the world stripped of all natural (and unnatural in the case of Necron) resources.
The remnants of the Yu'Tak primitives now roam in the midsts of the Shady Gitz war band, riding atop their natural monstrous mounts adorned with Necron and Ork technology alike, thoroughly unaware of what they are doing but bowing to the whims of their green-skinned "saviours", the primitive psychic energies and the ork psychic field creating fearsome weaponry from the fallen tomb world.
Basically I am working on adding tech to a stegadon kit along with ork gubbinz, keeping some of the original crew whilst making it thoroughly 40K, for use as a Looted Tank.
So far I've managed to work on the control interface, I know its still rough around the edges but feedback here has greatly helped in the past.
Guns for the kit will be:
Twinlinked Tesla Destroyer (think thats what its called, the biggest tesla) split into two singles and sidemounted on the beast.
Crossbow changed to Rokkit Crossbow
Pinlte Big Shoota
Any ideas for this project would be much appreciated.

Gargantuan Gargant

Not the most eloquent show of support, but yes, Orikl was complimenting you.
I wish I had a bit more to work with, even as a rough, poster- tac'd mockup. My biggest concern at the moment is whether the thing will feel sufficiently orky. Lizardmen aesthetics already seem to fall somewhat between Snakebite Orks and Necrons, so I worry that leaving lizards around and simply "teching up" the thing, at least in your current direction, might have somewhat muddy results (i.e. visually unclear, until explained by very specific fluff).
My advice is, for all the 'cron and scaly bits used, to make sure that the major design elements positively scream "ORK!" The stegadon has some lovely scale texture that you don't want to completely erase, but crude armor a la the FW Gargantuan Squiggoth would help provide a frame of reference. The cockpit mixes trophies and glyphs from all three races, but an Ork commander and some scrap plating will guarantee that viewers immediately know just whose monster/vehicle this is, regardless of who is actually at the controls.
Obviously, I'm just rattling these things off the top of my head - you know far better than I what the model looks like, so far, and what you have to work with. Hopefully, you can at least see the direction I'm pointing, in case you want to explore it. Regardless, I'm curious to see where you go with this project. Best of Luck!

Thanks for the advice, I have parts from a broken trukk that will be used along with gs and plastcard to bulk up the model along with relevant glyph. Main idea for orks handler will be hanging off side by rope and using a grot prod to motivate the beast

Glad to be of help. The size of the beast is tiny compared to what I had hoped. The ogre mammoth is something I'm looking at for a squiggoth base at a later point
Automatically Appended Next Post: Working on some scratched up armour, sadly due to a slight miscalculation I have run out of GS and simply cannot afford to invest in any plasticard at present, as such I have mocked up some armour plates for the Steggadon on one side out of milliput as a tester.
How do you think this looks?
Should I remove it?
Cheers

Cheers, the somewhat patchy bits higher up will have the sidepanels of an Ork trukk partially covering them as extra armour for the "crows nest" part of the original model. Also started work on the Ork Herder and gunner for the piece to make it sufficiently more orky

Wow that looks great, definately bigger than mine is turning out to be, currently I'm in the middway of assembling stage and the need to start painting stage.
Currently I have:
Steggadon body with armour plating
Steggadon Head
Front crew platform with Rokkit bow Ork boy
Skink control room
Trukk armour plates with attatched hered (left and right)
And finally the tesla big guns to mount on the side.
Issue I'm shortly going to hit will be painting this beast in stages without knowing how he'll look all put together.
Blue tac isnt enough to hold on the seperate bits and I'm not able to pin at this stage.
More pictures up soon

I like it. It gives me more of an idea when I start my project. Check out my gallery to see my lizard men conversions for my Grey Knights. They look pretty good if I may say so myself.
