So I've been playing space wolves since i was 11 now i'm 22 I've always wanted to tryout Canis Wolfborn for a 1000 pts list.....
I plan for this list the hit hard and hit fast.. i plan by turn 2 to be in my enemy's face beating it to a bloody pulp!

Canis Wolfborn -205 pts
-2x Fenrisian Wolves

Wolf Guard Pack x3 -117 pts
-2x Combi-Melta
-2x Power Fists
-Storm Bolter & Power Weapon

Wolf Scout Pack x5 -110 pts
-Melta Gun
-Melta Bombs

Grey Hunters Pack x8-190 pts
-Power Weapon
-Melta Gun
-Wolf Standard
-Rhino w/ Dozer Blades

Grey Hunters Pack x8-190 pts
-Power Weapon
-Melta Gun
-Wolf Standard
-Rhino w/ Dozer Blades

Land Speeder -70 pts
-Multi-Melta
-Heavy Flamer

Long Fangs Pack -115 pts
-Pack Leader w/ Bolt Pistol & Close Combat Weapon
-4x Missile Launchers
Total=997 pts

Now with this list i plan to put the 2 Wolf Guard w/ Combi-Melta and Power Fist in the Grey Hunters, and the other Wolf Guard w/ Storm Bolter and Power Weapon with the Wolf Scouts to outflank and catch my enemy by surprise.
The Long Fangs & Land Speed will provide suppressive fire while i move up Canis behind the Rhinos in the center and pop smoke on turn one.. Yes i know i picked Power Weapons over MoTW but i plan on taking this list against my close friends Chaos Space Marines... now wit that said i dont wana take a list that stomps his face in by turn 3 i want it to be a fun game!!!! Now i do love my Rune Priests and i know it would be smarter to take 1 and take a las-plas Razorback for my long fangs with some points left over for whatever, but tbh i like the fluff with this list and i hope it works out great for me... C&C will be appreciated but please keep in mind that this list is strong and well rounded imo.

5500 pts [8wins- 4 Loss- 1 Draws]
1700 pts [3 Wins- 2 Loss- 0 Draws
1250 pts [0 Wins- 1 Loss- 0 Draws]
650 pts WIP
1250 pts WIP

Hmmm, Canis... I am not a fan of the guy, can I make a suggestion at 2 slightly different wolf riding monsters at 205 points?

Wolf guard battle leader
with thunderwolf, runic armour, wolf claws, storm shield, wolf tooth necklace and wolf tail talisman.

Wolf guard battle leader
with thunderwolf, 2x wolf claws, wolf tooth necklace, wolf tail, melta bomb and belt of russ.

The 1st is a decently hard hitting and tough to kill wolf lord, he can weather almost anything, he has the best saves going and only looses 1 attack, he hit like canis and does fill the same roll. He won't get maimed if you get hit with obliterators which a lot of CSM like to use to plasma spam. The 2 ablative wolves are not really worth it, I use a thunderwolf lord in 1000pts and the wolves die and just slow you down and have prevented assaults due to oversights on terrain(they clip the edge of terrain and force a roll that turns up too short), using runic armour means that when you get sprayed with lots of shots you get to live a bit longer to get into cc, when in cc the wolves count for nothing.

The 2nd, he's a little more like canis, hits hard and sacrafices survivability for sheer attack power, he has an invulnerable save so he's gonna last a little longer and you get to kill lots of things

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

@ Liturgies of Blood: WGBL cannot take a Belt of Russ. Your second option is over 205 if its a Wolf Lord.

@ Wolfie101: The problem with Canis was pegged in another recent thread. He has no Invulnerable Save. As Liturgies is suggesting, you are better off taking with either a WGBL or a Wolf Lord and giving him a Storm Shield or Belt of Russ. Otherwise any of the things you'd want to throw him at (Monstrous Creatures, enemy HQs) will just eat him.

Canis is not a bad choice, unless he's your primary HQ. He's more useful in larger games where you can afford to bring him as your 3rd or 4th HQ to eat up Ork Mobs and the like.

Personally I bring a WGBL w/ Thunderwolf Mount, Frost Weapon, Storm Shield, Wolf Tooth necklace, and Wolf Tail Talisman. Normally he also has Saga of the Warrior Born but not always. He runs 185 points, is Strength 6, and has a 3+ Invulnerable Save. If you took that wargear on a Wolf Lord he would be 215 points. Just drop the Wolf Tooth Necklace (with WS 6 you will be hitting enemy HQs on a 4+ still, and most other models on a 3+) and he costs the same.

Better still, take a look at the options and see what you would prefer yourself. Just remember that taking a 'strikes last' weapon without Saga of the Bear is suicidal (especially against enemy HQs).

Or you could ignore the advice, but you'll have to keep Canis away from enemy HQs and MCs and units with Furious Charge and I4 and Power Weapons (e.g. any Blood Angels army, some Chaos Space Marine Armies, Tyranids, some Ork units.

@Cowmonaut
Yep you got me, I made a mess of that one.

Last time I try to design HQ's without the codex in front of me.
