I am currently building a BA army and am struggling with which to get should I use Sanguinary Guard or Assault Terminators. Positives and negatives of both would be helpful. Ultimately they point cost is about the same. Suggestions and input would be grateful.

Depends on what type of list? A Dante list the the SG are great. A ground jumper list a unit of AT in a LR are a nice support CC unit. In a DoA or Mech list neither are great choices as there are other better ones

Ok right now I am building an assault marine BA list with either Dante or was thinking a SM: Commander as my HQ, I have both. I was also looking at buying a Baal Predator and getting a Furioso Dreadnaught. The LR does sound appealing as well for not only transport but also for support. I guess I am just trying to figure out if I should spend the money on assault Termies or get the SG(which are cheaper to purchase). For the DoA list what would be better choices. I have some money to spend but really want to solidify a good competitive army. Thank you for any help.

TBH, neither are a great choice. The SG only work if you take Dante and then they are an expensive choice at lower point levels. I find Assault termies are ok form many BA lists, not just DoA. It will all depends on how you want to expand your list.

My Assault Terminators have not failed. Furious charge (Pirests always nearby) prefered enemy(reclusiarch or Libby) lightning claws are almost as silly as blood talons.

Sanguinary Guard is fail overall imo. 2+ armor save, but no invul. Once you start to upgrade them to make them hit with a Powerfist they go up more points making them more expensive than a squad of 5 termies.

5 Assault Termies have LC that can benefit from FC or you can go the mix and match route which I do and do 3 TH/SS and 2 LC. This gives the squad survivability with a nice combo of rerolling to hit with a Librarian and rerolling to wound with the LC. Assault Termies are pretty survivable and better overall imo.
