Is a 10 Paladin core Draigowing army normally hosed against Deathwing?

There is a guy at the local store that runs 20 Terminators all with TH\SH, that is supported by a Vindicator and some other stuff.

It seems like a bad matchup for Draigowing.

As long as you can keep the Vindicator away from your Paladins, you should be fine. You should get a couple rounds of shooting in on them on their way in, which might thin them down a little, then make sure you get the charge, with the Brotherhood banner, that is 4 attacks per, and between Draigo and the squad, you should be S6. 36 power weapon attacks that hit on 3+ and wound on 2+ should gut his formation if not wipe out his formation.

It is the deathwing who being shooting on the paladins way in. Paladins are short ranged where CMLs love range, also fearless means they can even hug the back line and make you take every inch to being to shoot them.

The main issue is nearly all their attacks kraks and hammers instant kill paladins. If they have chosen to bring vindicators then you are always going to struggle.

Anyway build a balanced list with dreads to provide long range antitank and try to close the distance as best you can. Within 24'' your shooting and cc should match them.

Just have Draigo eat the kraks, and there shouldn't be too many hammers left by the time they would get to strike unless most of the paladins are using hammers as well.

The problem is with wound allocation, if say 2 shots are fired in (assuming hit and wound) per squad, draigo can only take 1 each time.

If they're all with TH/SS, it shouldn't be too much of a drama. Send enough pyscannons bolts down range at that Vindicator and you're going to bust it wide open, especially if you can deep strike into it's rear or side armour.

Depending on your set-up, you should be able to eat TH/SS termies for breakfast in combat. You'll be swinging first, hitting on 3's (with some re-rolls if you've taken MC weapons on the Paladins) and wounding on 2's (and re-rolling 1's if you've taken the relevant stratagem). Sure, two thirds of the wounds will be bounced by the storm shields, but you should still reliably inflict ten or more unsaved wounds each combat phase.

Just don't let that Vindie drop a pie plate on you!
