drop the baloth, the treespeakers, and the corrupter, and add 3 awakening zones and 3 quicksilver amulets.

the deck itself is based off the one that won the 2011 tournament nationals tournament, while adding some of my own twist

I thought about the amulets.... but artifacts are so easy to kill: which is why I like corruptor

the baloth itself I agree is debatable, but the treespeakers are not. they are amazing and essential

well, since the format has cycled, you have a larger card pool, elvish piper can be of use too. the eldrazi bosses were originally artifact creatures, but they changed them so master transmuter could't be useable.

I believe pandafarmer from another forum pointed this out...

"Being someone who once loved the dickens out of Piper... it's one of those few creatures out there that says "If you don't kill me now, chances are you will lose the game within one or two turns." The opponant KNOWS you will put something scary on the board ASAP and this is the way you intend to do so. They will throw EVERYTHING they can at you (or it) before your next main phase simply because of this. Even if you succeed in bringing forth the scariest monster ever... there is still a whole next turn that they have to aim everything they have at that guy now. So think of it this way. Turn 3 Piper = Turn 5 attacking monster... This is more than enough time for your opponant to do everything they can to kill you while you sit with one massive blocker on the board.

So while I am usually a BIG fan of agreeing with your "it dies to removal is a lame arguement" statement, it's triple times true with Piper. She's been around for years, everyone and thier mother has wanted to use her to bring out the best creatures in the format (it was once a $7 rare because of this). Yet it has never been played in a top 8. There IS a reason why."

Thus, that is why I am not running elvish piper.
Thats what summoning trap is for.

Quicksilver amulets is definitely a big thumbs up in my book as you are running some costly creatures. Getting them out in play for a mere 4 mana is never a bad thing. Id definitely agree on your point on elvish piper. It is a great, great card but it is really really fragile.

I agree with what remilia said, the 3 amulets and 3 awakening zones will be most useful in this deck.

I like those.... but what card would I take out to fit them in?

I used to play a deck based on polymorph and 2 iona and 2 emrakuul, those were the only creatures in the deck, using cards like awakening zone, khalni garden and garruk for tokens, and jace 2.0, ponder and halimar depths for draw control.

already got a polymorph deck and its beastly

MAIN DECK
2 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
1 Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre

2 Beckon Apparition
4 Flayer Husk
4 Intangible Virtue
3 Leyline of the Meek
4 Midnight Haunting
4 Path to Exile
4 Polymorph
2 Promise of Bunrei
4 Raise the Alarm
4 Spectral Procession

1 Glacial Fortress
1 Island
11 Plains
4 Seachrome Coast
2 Sejiri Refuge
4 Windbrisk Heights

This deck can get emrakul easily by turn 3 with a good hand....

I would most likely rid myself of the Treespeakers as they are no longer essential to your build because of the amulets. The only purpose they serve now is to use them for defensive spells like the ability on MM but Im not sure if I think its entirely worth it. I think the overgrown battlements should prove to be enough. The corrupter is another one you could probably go without. Not entirely sure if you need the Baloth either.

The only way to find out is really to play test as It may seem like a great idea on paper but when you actually play it yo may find it doesnt work at all.

Ive played this deck and the Treespeakers are AWESOME. The Baloth has only done ok... so I think I could get rid of him. The corruptor has also served me well with its ability to destroy artifacts, while having infect and being a creature.

I think I will get rid of the baloth and one treespeaker for 2 amulets. and I think Ill get rid of the explores for 2 awakening zones

that way everyone is happy

That may work, hopefully two should be enough. With two of them you might not see them in every game but atleast you should get one in most. 3 basically guarantees you one in each game. Let us know how it works out!

Just played a gak load of test games and it works really well. The amulet only activated once, but other than that it was useful as a distraction

Still hating the new Mage Blade decks, but meh

(BTW got turn 1 emrakul... it was glorious...fuckin love summoning trap!)

Turn one Emrakul trololol! I would have loved to see the look on your opponents face. Summoning trap is mighty sexy no doubt!

I also love how mindbreak trap shut down AnT in one shot.
