Fairly new to the game, but interested in Daemons as an army.
Do you guys think Daemons will get some love with the CSM getting their upgrade?
I'm not speaking specifically of rule, though I think they could use some changes, but also models (Rumor on plastic plague barers).
Is their Codex old enough to warrant a new one? Or will it be errata?

Ah thanks! I'll read through it. Hopefully something about Daemons in that mix.

That thread is pretty much exclusively marines, with a few hopefuls arguing that daemons should be put back into the marines book (they wont be).

I'd rather they didn't.
But by virtue of the CSMs getting updates, you'd think that Daemons would get some too, just by way of cross over models.

Honestly the daemons book is strong (I went 27-0 with a mono-nurgle list back when I played 40k) and besides plastic PBs I do not see them needing a update.

You might find that Daemons get a surprise release not long after CSM. Especially if a Plaguebearer kit is indeed on it's way with the CSM book.

It'd be a fairly simple release requiring only a few models as Daemons are fairly fortunate in the model department.

I don't know about strong. Anytime half your army can die to deep strike mishaps, I find it difficult to be too strong. I've had way too many games where a good portion of my army didn't even arrive til the last turn of the game, which meant that the rest of my army had already bought it and been wiped off clean. 5+ save base is not as strong, esp when you have little to no shooting, and limited anti-tank (don't tell me that a 90pt str8ap1 shot is great anti-tank either, because I've had too many games where I couldn't even immobilize a rhino as well)

Yeah, I absolutely LOVE all the plastic Daemons that are out. Great kits, one and all, and I don't discount the power of the codex, but I'm pretty sure you couldn't rewrite CSM without impacting Daemons.

Uhh yeah you can... the CSM book is pretty much daemonless, the 'daemon' units (all 2 of them) have absolutely nothing in common with anything in the Chaos Daemons book....

@buckeroo, agreed, I find that the daemons reliable anti-tank comes from close combat(unfortunate but true), which becomes a nightmare vs. eldar/dark eldar... it would have been nice if flamers had bolt as standard (perhaps instead of warfire). I dont know anyone who really ever even uses the warpfire option, its kind of redundant when you have the option for flamer templates...

But that would be like saying you can't rewrite Space Marines without affecting Dark Angels... and that's exactly what they did. GW eventually went back and errata'd Dark Angels to match up more with the rest of the Marinehammer 40k codecies.

I don't think Chaos Legions being in the starter set will have anything to do with the Chaos Daemon books. It's two different codecies.

However, I do think (HOPE) that the daemons get a new codex next edition, along with the other remaining 4th edition books (BT, Tau, Eldar, Dark Angels, and maybe Orks). No codex should be 2 Editions behind.

I guess I need to learn more about the CSM.
And you're right kronk, the last of the 4th ed books really need help. Especially Eldar and Tau.
I'd like new Ork toys too though.
