- It is outside, (a.k.a very little airbrushing done during the winter months, holding a metal airbrush in one hand blowing air on a miniature in your other hand does NOT work when its cold. Not to mention It might affect the paint.
- I use a small compressor to fill an air tank to roughly 100 psi. That way I dont have to buy a new compressor for $150+. This work great untill you account the time you can use it. I don't know how much I can spray in one charge but it isn't enough. it also takes 15 minutes to fill it back up.
So, does anyone know how to paint indoors without getting paint all over my room. I was thinking about a spray booth which would be necessary to paint indoors. With a 4 sided spray booth with a fan leading to a window I assume 99.9 percent of the paint wont get out.
But on the issue of air sources, does anyone know any quiet compressors that aren't $200? or any silent cheap air source. the way I do it now may be the best way. Maybe I can get a bigger air tank.
Holy crap, you run your compressor for 15 mins to fill up the tank? I'd be worried about burning out the motor at that rate. The little ones usually overheat very easily. How big is the air tank? I have a small airbrush compressor hooked up to a hardware compressor (3 gallons) and it take about 4 mins to charge it up to 60 psi. Works well enough for me and during the day, if noise is not an issue, I just run the compressor that's built into the tank to fill it up to 100psi.
Also, I spray in front of my computer desk w/o a spray booth. I have no issues with getting paint all over the room. That being said, I did build my own spray booth for about 30 bucks. Just got a big clear plastic tub, clear is important since you want to have light enter it. I cut out the back in order to screw in a big high volume computer fan and hooked that up to a
DC wall adapter to run it. Works well but I'm too lazy to setup/teardown every time I want to use the
AB so I pretty much never use it these days.
