I was wondering...if you use arjac's thor hammer throw...(which basically tosses a thunder hammer at an enemy) it lowers the targets initiative to one as per thunder hammer rules...so my question is:

can a target with a modified initiative be forced to take an initiative test that is modified? Or would it be the normal initiative listed in it's profile instead....hope you know what I mean

IIRC, all characteristics tests are taken on unmodified value (with some exceptions to Ld). Unfortunately I cannot find where that is stated.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

ALL characteristics tests are taken on your characteristic, by default. Page 8

Sweeping Advance is on unmodified initiative

Yes, this means you can try to drop someone to I1 then Jaws them

Page 8, as I said. Notice anything in there stating "unmodified"? No? Then you take the test on your current value.

This is an expensive combo that is a bit too risky to justify the reward, imo.

No he didn't. You're reading "taken on your default characteristic" when he said "your characterstic, by default". Meaning, by default (always) you take it on what your value is, unless you're told to take it on the "unmodified" value.

Guess not...just wondering cause some people say you can drop in empty drop pods...but I'm guessing they are bought by the unit and not filled

Yeah, you drop empty pods by buying them for units and not deploying them in them... But you can't put other units into them, as they are dedicated transports.
