None everything other then the models, are free online at CB Infinity site.

The books have all the fluff, what you will not find for free. But there is no rule in the book you can't get online. That said they are one of the top Miniature wargame books ever.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.    |

									None. Technically.

There are two Infinity books - the 2nd Ed Rulebook and the Human Sphere Expansion, if you're going to buy the books, you'll probably need both in the end. You get artwork and fluff along your rules and so forth and also the moral satisfaction of supporting a small independent company.

But they are also downloadable from their site. For free in PDF formats. I've gone and printed them all off and made my own little rulebooks, but they're stand-ins until I save enough money to buy Human Sphere. My Rulebook has been in the mail/awaiting stock since like early December because of specific third-party problems.

Then again, if you're just starting off, the main 2nd Ed rulebook will do fine, wait until you can cope with the rules in there before moving on to the Human Sphere.

It's all downloadable, is what I'm saying.

The rules and army lists are all downloadable. The unit-specific background is mostly in the miniature gallery section of the CB site.

All other background (and gorgeous illustrations) is only found in the two books.

I agree with all the above.

Download the .pdf rulebooks online and give them a skim to get the general idea.
Use the Infinity Wiki to look up specific things.
Use the Infinity Army Builder to create lists and look up stats.

You'll also need models as your first purchase.

Once that's all done, when (not 'if') you're still hooked on the game, you'll want to learn the fluff behind the units you use. Then you buy the appropriate books.
