So Im a fan of Pandora, I listen to it often. Now usually its pretty bang on with its selections according to what I want to listen to. The problem is, sometimes I make channels on groups I like.....and its just cant seem to figure out how not to feth it up. Example, Ive been in the mood to listen to Gravity Kills and similar bands like them. Problem is, Im pretty much only getting NIN, Stabbing Westward and uh................ Not much else. Ive only heard 1!!! Gravity Kills song in the last hour, the rest is what I mentioned. Also earlier, it started playing Ozzy..... OZZY?!?! Are you fething kidding me?! How/when did they sound alike?
GAH! I needed to vent. Similar problems for anyone else?

Oh dear god yes. My Pandora is split three-ways between grungy underground, classic metal and girly dance gak. One of my dance ones was "We Found Love" as per the Rihanna song, with an expectation for up-tempo, energetic electronics that make me wish I were drunk. I've gotten all out Gangsta Rap, Slipknot, Eminem, an unreal amount of pure dubstep, acoustic guitar chicks, and every Adele single so far. It's finally getting it's point, but it's taken forever. Edit: I also want the option of saying fast or slow station. Just because I like a remix of a song does not mean I like every remix of it. Just... blargh.

Yeah the filter can definitely get wonky.
For example, I wanted Neil Young songs; folksy, ballad-y.
A rendition of Old Man by some young black girl comes up, she does a passably good job, so I like. Next thing I know, we're off to Loreena McKennitt and half a dozen other renaissance/gaelic revival performers, and I'm wondering WTF happened.

It happens sometimes. My solution is to leave that station alone for a while and create another one based off another artist of the same genre.
For whatever reason all my stations are flooded with In Flames. No matter how many times I dislike it (Don't hate them, just tired of hearing the same band OVER AND OVER)

They have become more commercial and instead of just using the music genome they are inserting sponsored artists or artists from sponsored labels.

My coworker tried this after his Grooveshark year sub expired. He ended up dumping it, as the ads would not play at average, regular intervals, they would tend to clump together more or less. It would also play songs repeatedly instead of picking something up new. Since then he moved onto Slacker Radio, which seems to be much better.
I instead went with Spotify premium(as I wanted to be legit, after trying groovedown), and like it, but this is due to being quite picky about my music (electronic and post rock mainly). I tried SR, but didn't like it too much, it did seem better than Spotify radio (different from premium), but I don't think i gave it a fair chance.

Wow so Im not the only one then eh? Yea it sucks to thumb down NIN, but I mean cmon, I dont want NIN in my goth rock station, I want NIN in my industrial station, but feth if Pandora understands that
I think I might just try some other internet radio station, because this gets annoying. Like I said, some of my channels work out rather well, My STP channel is fantastic, my Meshuggah channel, is awesome, my Andy Mckee channel is awesome, its just when I jump out of these types of channels, well it gets all fethed up

Yep. I throw on Pandora once in a while when I'm painting. More often than not, I turn it off after an hour and relisten to an IC or 40k radio podcast.

Really, the only problem I have with my Pandora is that it keeps trying to sneak Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murpheys into my Ska station.
I'm sorry, but I HAVE MY OWN FLOGGING MOLLY STATION FOR A REASON. I don't want Irish folk/punk rock when I want to listen to Big D and the Kid's Table or Reel Big Fish

Yeah, I get Dropkick sneaking into my ska channel also from time to time. I also had to thumb-down just about every single NOFX song because I added some stuff from So Long and Thanks for all the Shoes.
My matchbox20 channel seems to have a knack for picking up Coldplay. Ugh. My trance and classical channels inevitably blur together after about 2-3 months of listening to them and I have to delete and start over. I look at all channels like they have a lifecycle. They start out fresh, wind up in their prime, and then get old and stale, and then I have to start over. The only one that's survived since the beginning is my ska channel due to excessive pruning.

Thats my problem, I have probably 8-10 REALLY good channels. So when I want to listen to some nice metal metal (like TOOL or something ) I can without a doubt, listen to it and enjoy it completely. But there are a few channels like I said.....that just screw it all up

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Back on topic, I hate how pandora loves to play about 10 or so good songs in a row the first time I turn it on (probably to get me in a good mood for listening to good music) and then suddenly BOOM neverending crap. I have to turn it off every couple hours because it just plays bad songs over and over.

In the old Pandora interface, you could refresh the browser to force it to play a new song, no matter how many skips you'd done.
Unfortunately, they wised up to that...

More like, "Yea, I love cars! Check out my fleet of immaculate Geo Metro hardtops, my old Datsun, this solid gold El Caminio, a Red Barichetta, oh, and over here in this corner, the same set of Corvettes, Mustangs, and the one bitchin' Camero that everyone else has."
In all honesty, there's music I like that's FAR more embarrassing than matchbox.

Well, the News, Thomas Dolby, and Kim Carnes, just to name a few. Automatically Appended Next Post: I also have very mixed feelings about My Chemical Romance. Based upon their cover of Desolation Row, they seem like very talented musicians. I just wish they could stop sobbing all over their instruments long enough to really do something useful with that talent. I mean, Jesus, put down the mike, go get a drink of water, maybe smoke a cigarette, count to 10, and try again, this time without the waterworks. :/
