Played against a Grey Knights army tonight, first time ever, against a first time player.

He was taking Draigo and two Paladins squads.

Was just wondering whether or not the entire army can choose to Deep Strike and how this works.
As we played it, he used Deep Strike, and as I went first, he didn't even have models on the board til his Turn 2, this doesn't seem right.. Can anybody help?

Thanks

Null deployment is definitely an option. There's no requirement to have anything on the board at the beginning of the game.

Buddy of mine tried the same thing, kept failing his reserve rolls, finally comes in, mishaps and goes back into reserves. Game ended with him having done nothing the entire game, except mishap once.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

So hypothetically, if you were to play a kill points game, the GK had 2nd turn, and didn't come down til 5th turn, they could shoot my army, I take casualties, and I don't get a turn to fight back, therefore winning them the game?

Yes. It's unlikely, but yes.

Hypothetically, if your opponent rolled 1, 2, or 3 for each of his units, followed by 1 or 2, followed by 1, and the roll to end the game was a 1 or 2, then, yes, your scenario is possible.

But, the odds are very low. Lets assume a player only has 2 units (the HQ is attached to one of the 2 mandatory troops). The odds of this happening are 1 in 3888 (1/2*1/2*1/3*1/3*1/6*1/6*1/3). If a player has more than 2 units, the odds go down very quickly.

And, this isn't restricted to GK in any way. Any army can do this.
