Hadn't seen this anywhere else on Dakka, so apologies if it's already been said elsewhere.

GW are releasing some special new 40k boxes for various armies to coincide with the 25th birthday celebrations starting on the 25th of this month.

I know for definate there will be the following;

10 x Tactical Marines & a Drop Pod
10 x Chaos Marines & a Chaos Rhino
11 (or 12) Ork Boyz & a Trukk

I think there may be others such as Kabalite Warriors and a Raider but can't be certain on anything other than the ones listed above.

I'm pretty sure I saw that these dual kits were going to be Direct Only but that might just be me misunderstanding it. Think they would be missing a trick not sticking a few of these boxes in all stores to reach the maximum amount of customers.

Also pencilled in as part of the celebrations are releases for Space Wolves, Tyranids and Imperial Guard. Can't say for sure what these will be, but these are the armies listed as getting some new model goodness.

Cool, hopefully there are some other such kits coming our way!

I'm pretty certain that this will see the long awaited T. Wolf cavalry finally making a, belated, appearence.

Also just remembered, 10 x Cadians & a Chimera is another of the new boxes.

That one's not really "new". That's what they've used the other two times they did this same thing.

Going out on a limb here, based upon the old boxes what we'll see for the other three factions which could feasibly have plastic boxes:
10x Dark Eldar Kabalite Warriors and a Raider. Possibly Wyches in lieu of the Warriors. It's also entirely possible they might go a different way and do two Venoms and 10x Warriors/Wyches. This one's up in the air though.

10x Guardians and a Wave Serpent.

10x Necron Warriors and a Monolith.

For Tyranids, it's possible that we'll see the Spore Pod release as part of this but who knows?

It won't be a Monolith with Necrons if they get a kit, it would have to be priced higher than the other boxes and you would think GW would want to keep all the boxes in roughly the same price bracket.

The Monolith on it's own is over £40 whereas the vehicles in the other kits are between £20/£25. If anything is going to go into a Necron box it'd be a Ghost Ark, but even that's £31 on it's own.

Oh I agree on the Necron note. It's possible, as it'd be a kind of loss-leader/direct only product but the likelihood is fairly small.

This news has been up on dakka for like 1-2 weeks already in the Feb WD and other threads.
