Hey all,
I'm just wondering if any of you guys get inspired by games whether it's the story, music, characters or just the looks. I'm a big Mass effect nerd.....well maybe sci-fi in general. I really would like to see humanity expand to outer space and colonize distant moons and planets and maybe one day be able to go FTL. Good example my high school was holding a annual science fair expo. My project was "Can humans live anywhere and how'' I used Brink as my example as I made a miniature ARK and explained how humans can live eco friendly. However knowing the game the main problem to making the ARK in real life was the how corrosive saltwater is to metal (not the class warfare that was main plot of the game).when the expo was over my friend came to my stand and he told how much of a nerd i was for copying Brink which I was slightly guilty. However that game inspired me to go into the science fair and show my science teachers there are other outlets instead of textbooks.

"The Imperium is nothing if not willing to go to any lengths necessary. So the Trekkies are zipping around at warp speed taking small chucks out of an nigh-on infinite amount of ships, with the Imperium being unable to strike back. feth it, says central command, and detonates every vortex warhead in the fleet, plunging the entire sector into the Warp. Enjoy tentacle-rape, Kirk, we know Sulu will." -Terminus
"This great fortress was a gift to the Blood Ravens from the legendary Imperial Fists. When asked about it Chapter Master Pugh was reported to say: "THEY TOOK WHAT!?""
I'll lead a fleet warships to fight, hell I'd lead a infantry platoon on some backwater planet for valuable resource

I was honestly never interested in learning a musical instrument. My parents tried, many times, to get me to play Piano, Flute, Guitar, Drums, and all sorts. But I was always more into escapism and imagry than music. My version of Music was Korn, Disturbed, Linkin Park, and others that shalt not be named.
Then Brutal Legend came along. Brutal Legend, with it's escapism, fighting demons with the power of Metal. Long Story short, I have acquired a new Guitar every year since playing that game (up to three now), and am able to play..... decently enough. Terrible, but decently enough.
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
Certainly games can inspire, as can movies or novels or (other) works of art. Anything that triggers our fantasy and creativity is inspiring, though like any form of entertainment it can also have an effect on happyness/morale or make you set new goals for yourself to attain. These media all serve to broaden our horizon, supplanting the need to actually go out for ourselves and survive some sort of adventure to experience these things.
I've written or drawn a lot of stuff, and I bet much of it is at least subconsciously influenced by stuff I've seen in some game.
