Hi people! I think the Death Guard have good fluff and some really badass models, so I decided to build and paint some. I'm pretty good at converting and sculpting, but I suck really badly at painting which kinda lowers the quality of my models. I also suck at photography. Photography and painting tips are much appreciated. Also, if you like fanfics/pity me I have a link to a fanfic in my sig. And now, here are some pretty pictures of my Death Guard guys. Yup.

More updates are coming soon, as I recently bought a Rhino, some Possessed and a big ol' thing of greenstuff.

Good to see you on the modelling section Lonelictor. Looks like a promising start, i like the lurid green you have chosen. Has a kinda old school b-movie feel, i mean that in a good way.

One criticism would be the metal parts, i think maybe 'tin bitz' would go better with the green, with only the edges being silver.

That green looks noxious. That's a good thing. I second using Tin Bitz. It goes great with green, as long as you highlight it.

Ty for the comments and I'm going to task your advice and get some tin bitz. It seems like it'll improve the models. Also, here are some new guys; Raptors! FYI, they looked so much better in person. The zoom feature on my camera seems to expose how crappy these are, but if you looked at them on a table from a very long distance they might look kinda cool.

I was kinda wondering how I would do Nurgle Raptors. I didn't want to get normal Raptors, because they're definitely intended for the Night Lords (smooth asthetic, very quick looking and angrish) and they're finecast (hate dealing with finecast). So, I just scavenged through my bitz box and looted some pieces from my new possessed kit. Lastly, here's some fancy descriptions of 'em.

They soared across the dead landscape, born aloft on writhing tentacles and jets of filth. As they moved they left nauseating trails of slime and gore, a testament to their degenerating forms. Where the flesh and armor had rotted away mutations had grown. Arms ended in bony claws and knotted tentacles. Rusting armor became one with the molds and poxes that destroyed it. Upon reaching the enemy, their bloated leader unhinged his jaw and let loose a twisted scream. The slaughter began.

Anyways, they look better in person.

Some new guys. Eh, they ain't the best, but they're better than the Raptors. The greenstuff work turned out excellent (with the bloated guts and festering wounds and mold) and the paint job varies. For example, the insect headed guy (with the decay all over his chest cuz my dog ate his original chest) turned out amazing, at least relative to my other guys. Contrast the bald guy with the visible head; his paint job turned out pretty horrible. And the paintjob of the icon guy's chest turned out horrible also. C&C appreciated, esp. on painting techniques.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU CLICK ON THE GALLERY PICTURES AND ZOOM IN AND LOOK AROUND

These guys look extremely flourescent like a b-movie ghost like someone said. If that's what you want then you are already successful at that. Its good to look at them in the pictures I have the same problem... the more pics I take I realize I suck Its a good thing means you're ready to go to the next level. There are several things which pull off that effect, the first is just using shades of flourescent green, and also not highlighting shadows and highlights like normal but more like a power weapon, with an 'inner glow'. It's not really easy. They could also almost be radioactive toxic-waste like guys which would be cool too. You could do that better with just more highlights and a lot of washes. Get some cheap ass oil paints, acrylic varnish (in a spray bottle is fine) and turpenoid and you're good to go.
