Okay, i’m a returning player so I’m still a noob with the rules.

But here are some rule disputes that have come up recently in my games:

Eldar Striking Scorpions squad assign hits on Lord Commissar who is attached to an infantry blob. I thought an independent character who joins a squad becomes a part of the squad and does not count as independent character anymore. Is this correct?

Melta Vets in Chimeras cannot shoot if the vehicle moves? They can only disembark and shoot the meltaguns. True?

Eldar embarked in a wave serpent can hold an objective? I faced an elder player in Dawn of War scenario where we had one contested objective (neither of us had models around objective), I held one objective uncontested, and the third objective he had a wave serpent with a squad who were still embarked. He claimed they did not need to disembark to hold the objective, so the game was a draw (1 objective each). Is this correct?

Many thanks,

FH

ICs in CC can be singled out.

If the vehicle moves more than 6" the embarked unit cannot shoot.

To measure to the unit of troops, you measure to the vehicles hull, so the math was a draw.

He is an IC attached to a squad. He's both. If it's shooting damage then the defender assigns wounds. If it's Close combat then combat is resolved as if he's a seperate unit. So only units in BtB with him can attack him or units within 2" of a model that is btb with him and not btb with another unit.

If you travel 6" or less then you can fire out of firing ports as moved (aka heavy weapons cannot fire rapid fire weapons are limited to 12" ect.). If you travel 12" or less you can disembark and fire as moved. If you travel farther than 12" you cannot disembark or fire.

As long as they are troops inside the transport they can hold an objective. They do not need to disembark.

Nicely, I say, ...

... both Qs are quite clear in the RB.

ICs in h2h: You ought to check out the illustration on ICs and units in combat, showing which models can attack which enemy models. One of the more Game-Mechanic important sections to be read when differentiating between editions.

Shooting & Moving: Transport/passenger section.

I'm not scolding to go buy an RB, not with 6e eminent and small RB's retailing for $25 used . But it ought to be easy enough to borrow one for a week's reading.

Did it occur to you I did, but couldn't understand it? Probably not. Not exactly my fault. Newbies need help interpreting the rules because actually there are quite a lot to take in.

Sorry I offended you with my gross stupidity.

One thing to point out for the close combat question with an IC in the unit: The attackers need to declare which target they are attacking before you roll to hit not after. Nearly always the attacks will be split with some going at the IC and some at the unit, but the important thing is that the attacks are declared before rolling to hit and rolled separately. There are rules governing which models can attack the IC or the unit. Check out pages 49 (ICs and Assaults) and 41 (multiple combats).
