If you're anywhere near Baltimore, you should talk to the guys over at the Inner Circle club. They play out of a few stores, including GamesnStuff.

Games n' Stuff in Glen Burnie is where they play the most.
Here's the website.

hiveking, if you're out in Jefferson, MD (just past Frederick) you might try the Hobbytown in Frederick. Unfortunately, I don't know if a lot of 40k is played there... but if you call, they could tell you when it's usually played.
I actually work just a few minutes away from that Hobbytown, and am just getting back into 40k. However, it's not my main game... I usually stick to warmahordes and fantasy, and drive down to Dream Wizards in Rockville to play.
If you feel like going that far, the miniatures game night at Dream Wizards is Wednesday, and a lot of 40k players come out. Some also make it on Thursday, but not nearly as many. Any other day you should call ahead, but on a Wednesday you could probably snag a pick-up game pretty easily!
MaverickKnight, unfortunately I don't think there's much in Baltimore proper, but you've got a ring of stores around it (lots of GWs, and Games n Stuff in Glen Burnie that mikhaila mentioned).

Jefferson is right off 340 or 20min from west virgina if that helps LOL. But I've herded of hobbytown in Fredrick before so that must mean its worth looking into. I'd love to drive to glen Bernie to play but that's def a drive maybe for a tournament.
@ ritides that's to bad you don't play much 40k (for me) maybe the day you play a game of 40k we should meet up.
Thanks for all the info and my search will countinue for a local battle buddy lol

Hey, I talked to HiveKing before to let him know I'll play once I'm back in July. The store in Frederick has some stuff and the owner told me in November that in January he was going to start having tournaments, don't know if that worked out for him. There are a lot of guys down in Fairfax that I know through my girlfriend who play a lot down there, but that's about an hour away from you as well. Either way good luck and hope there are plenty of opponents when I get back =P

I have been to the Frederick store a lot of times as they have fantastic inventory of modeling bitz like plasticard but I have never seen gaming there. That place is big deal RC car territory.
Wow, I have never seen that beltway gamers site. I have avoided DW ever since the Outer realms drama back in the day and did my gaming in Glen Burnie and road tourneys. I need to find a local gaming group again.

With outer realms and game place closed dream wizards is it in the montgomery county area. Now that the beltway gamers have formed and grown so much its actually a cool spot to play. Lots of terrain, plenty of players (wed is main miniatures day), and of course no cover charge.
If your looking for a game in the area join the forums and set up a game. People will play other places than DW. Most of the members have tables at their homes too.

Just curious firzen, what does that link have to do with people looking for games in MD?
As RiTides and Psybilliah have stated, we play at Dream Wizards sans the OTHER REALMS drama from years ago. DW has actually changed for the better since the Beltway group started handling tournies, building terrain, getting a dedicated non-Magic the Gathering night for minis. You guys should check it out.

I live in harpers ferry WV. I'm only about 12 miles from jefferson MD, and 24 from frederick.
Hobbytown USA IN Frederick is an OK place to buy paints, and terrain stuff but their GW stock is pathetic., and none of the staff are gamer oriented. It's a toy store. There are tables in a room in the back, buts its a pretty sterile environment. There's a place called Brainstorm comics in downtown Frederick which has good stock and a friendly owner but no tables. If someone has the inkling and charisma, i bet they could open a decent store in that town as there is seriously no competition, and alot of population.
I tend to go to Your Hobby Place for gaming in Martinsburg WV. Alot of tables there, and a good stock. The owner is a gaming enthusiast. There are tournamnets once a month. 40k, fantasy and war machine are all popular. There's also magic the gathering tournaments each week if you're in to those.

Brainstorm is a cool lil shop. Owner told me in Dec that he was gonna clear space to have tables and tournies by Feb. Dunno what happened.

He mentioned that to me last year, too, felix... but if you look at his real estate, where would he put tables? I think he said he could cram one in the back somewhere, but I just don't think he has the space (assuming he only owns/wants to use the ground floor).
Hobbytown is fantastic for buying hobby materials, but little gaming...
I don't know if having a lack of true "gaming" stores means there's necessarily opportunity, though, since any store gets its' profit from the sales, and there are the other two shops in town already.

I stopped into Brainstorm to order a couple models Tuesday and am picking em up today... Dan is an awesome guy, super friendly and knowledgable about all kinds of stuff... not so much 40k, but he can get in anything you want and... he actually stocks a lot of stuff! If you order before Wednseday and he can them in by Friday I think he said. He does have a room in the back like he said but he's got a bunch of stuff in there that would need to be all cleaned out. Also, if you are looking to buy some of the old paints before they are all gone, Dan still has some in stock and the prices aren't much above cost (Hobbytown is pretty much always retail price)!
Hobbytown keeps next to no stock for 40k (maybe 1 model for each race) and they didn't have a Dark Eldar codex last time I went. Nick works there and is into 40k, but besides that i'm not sure anyone else at the shop is into it. I thinka s far as Frederick goes the opportunity for a Warhammer shop to pickup models is pretty well served, the only thing better I think than Brainstorm we could get is a Gamesworkshop that stocks absolutely all GW stuff, but even then at times they have to order things in.
We're having our get together in Brunswick tonight to play 40k and we'll have at least two games going with space for a 3rd... We get together with a core group of 6 of us every two weeks to play and model.

Brainstorm is a little small for gaming, he may be able to fit a table or two.
Hobbytown has gaming sometimes, but they usually stop about 8PM, since that's when the store closes.
As Justler said, we get together in Brunswick (20 mins SW of Frederick) almost weekly or bi weekly now on Fridays. MSG Justler (above poster) for more info.
