Hey guys, I was wondering how zombies are in this new edition of the book. are they a viable option? I recently got the older vampire counts battalion with the zombies. what are theyre uses now? Also, I'd like to point out that Im a total Noob with Vampire counts so I went in with the impression that zombies would be useful and effective, hopefully I'm not too wrong

They are fantastic. No joke they are IMO some of the best just tarpit core in the game. I am running 100 in my current list but you will need upwards of 200 zombies if you do this

But take not that you will need a lot of Zombies. If you begin game with two 20-man unit zombies, and a good Wizard, you'll have ~80-100 of them in no time.

Awesome I'm pretty relieved. Now another couple questions have arisen. What exactly is a good spell caster I have Kenner right now and Isabella cuz I love the models but I think in going to just use them as a vampire and a necromancer. Also what's a good way to build up a zombie horde? Just keep going with GW boxes? Or should I look into companies like Mantic?

As for zombie models, depends on what look you are going for... I too am working on a zombie horde but I really dislike the look of the GW zombies. Too cartoony and the arms look silly - the shoulders just don't look right!

So I'm combining the GW zombies with Empire militia and archers, plus adding in Mantic zombie bits. Altogether, I'll end up with about 140 zombies by buying 2 of the old VC battalions, 2 Empire boxes, and 60 Mantic zombies... if I did my maths correct. I'm also modding and greenstuffing to ensure that the anatomy looks decent.

I'm glad to hear that zombies are viable choice. I have been a bit worried I would regret all this time and effort, but sounds like my shambling minions will do nicely.

As for a good caster... Anything level 4.
You can either save points by getting a Master Necro, or spend a lot of points on the awesomest Vamp Lord. I haven't looked in too much on Henrich, but I feel that he could be a solid choice with his Loremaster and Etherealness... Plus he would give you a reason to field Krell... And Krell's model is just so gorgeous.
