Hey everyone,
First time poster here, I just got into War Gaming this last year, and I've got my third match coming up soon against a friend fielding Chaos marines (mechanized rhinos with substantial plague marines)

Its a 1500 point battle, and this is what I'm planning to roll with. Constructive criticism is of course welcome. Help me out some?

Necron Overlord w/ Res Orb Warscythe and Phase Shifter
Bodyguard
5 Lychguard w/ Dispersion Shields

8 Warriors
1 Necron lord with Res orb and warscythe

8 Warriors
1 Necron lord with res ord and warscythe

8 Warriors

6 Scarab Bases

Squad of 5 Destroyers (3 Heavy, 2 Regular)

Deep striking
Monolith
Unit 5 Deathmarks to counter demon prince

Not a fan of Lychguard, You could have a bigger army with more effectiveness.
Try dropping the lych guard and the Monolith.

You can fit 2 warrior squads, 3 anihilation barges and 2 ghost arcs or whatever the transport is where you can spawn warriors and death marks in a list at 1500 points. Way more fire power. I think you could also fit in some Immortals in with Tesla weapons! LETHAL for killing hordes!

Add Mind Shackle Scarabs for Aspiring-Champion-Pfisting-his-buddies in-the-face laughs.

I'd upgrade (proxy) them to Immortals with Teslas. Simply, they have a better gun and armor save. And MindShackleS for the lord.

Ah, still using 3e models.

I wouldn't DS the mono. Have it deployed forward on Turn 1 ... he doesn't have a Vindicator, does he?

Looks okay for what you got. I take that the models you've listed are the only ones you own?

2 scoring units at 1500 is one unit short.

Figure out a way to add Crypteks in for ... Lightning Field (which by-passes Plague Marine FNP), Veil & Solar Pulse ... you could skip Solar Pulse if he is not fielding Oblits or any other long range dudes.

Now that I think about it, taking out the mono for Crypteks and another Scoring unit would be good.

Nearly any model with a stripe or other distinction is good for a cryptek proxy until you buy the finecrapcast blisters.

As far as the lychguard go, I can use them as mobile cover to advance troops behind. They are just tough as nails. That group with overlord tanked over a few turns 20 ork boys plus warboss on the charge, granted, i shouldn't rely on them doing that every game, but so far, I've had huge success with them.
Ditching the monolith, maybe not a bad idea. What for example would i use it for then, in the future?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Well, i could break the 2 12 man squads into 3 squads of 8, use the one without a lord as a scoring only unit for more safe objectives, and use the others to fight and capture more difficult areas?

Agreed. Dey is nasty.

Anything >1750.

Yeah, if that's the limit on your models.

Future purchases:
Two Annihilation Barges. Filthy, horribly killy skimmers.

Try proxying your Destroyers for Wraiths with Whip Coils for a change-up, considering the significant degree of nerf the destroyers received.

I've been looking at maybe picking up Triarch Stalker kits, or something to make them (yeah the actual models don't exist yet.)
Would they maybe be worth looking into?
I like the idea with the wraiths, I looked into them some, and I'm pretty sure they will be my next addition to my army for sure, maybe in time for this game.
I see a lot in the threads people discussing Catacomb Command Barges, worth it at 1500?
