I was watching a game this weekend and a player assaulted with a Dreadnought into the back of a Chimera and wrecked it. According to the rules "Passengers must disembark and take a pinning test. Any models the CANNOT DISEMBARK ARE DESTROYED" so since the chimera has only one exit on the back and the dread was in the way it was ruled the squad was automatically destroyed. Is this how its normally done cause it made me think i could use the same tactic with my thundercav and wolf lord - i could assault a chimera, block the exits with my big models and the guys inside either die on a wreck or get shredded by the explosion if i blow it up.

It's called emergency disembark, it's under disembarking. Also, if you blow up the vehicle the guys inside are placed where the vehicle used to be.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

No - if the access point is blocked, they can emergency disembark. If the entire vehicle is surrounded, they're destroyed.

No, emergency disembarkation makes the unit pinned.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

Wrong, they cannot do anything for the rest of the current player turn.

100% incorrect. They cannot do anything the remainder of *that* turn

Sadly, the Emergency Disembark rules only say that the unit can't do anything for the rest of that turn.

And the rulebook FAQ says that any time the rules just say "turn", without specifying "game turn" or "player turn", they mean player turn.

So a unit which is forced to Emergency Disembark on your opponent's turn, by him busting your transport open and blocking the hatch, by the rules the ED'ing unit is only stuck until the end of the OPPONENT's turn.

Presently this is arguably the biggest hole in the 40k rules/FAQs.
