Hi all,

I'm planning a during-heresy thousand sons army and want to have a massive custom daemon prince for the army, to fight alongside Magnus. At the moment, this army is just to look good but I would also like fluff for it; it's just how it plays on the tabletop that I don't care about at the moment.

Anyway, I've been wanting to create a model worthy of being named after me for a long time (yes, I have a big ego). Before you shoot down this idea, my name is Tanis, so it does actually sound like I could be a daemon. Also, my name is Egyptian and obviously Thousand Sons have a heavy Egyptian influence and mine won't be any different so it seems appropriate.

My only problem is coming up with some decent fluff on why this daemon in particular is so powerful and has been granted so much power by Tzeentch. Normally i'm really good at this stuff but I'm drawing a complete blank on this one. So, if you have any ideas on Tzeentch daemon special character, please go ahead.

Thanks to all in advance.

You could easily make him a particularly powerful former Thousand Sons Captain, as Aurelian shows that by the time of the Battle of Terra, former Space Marines captains could have become Daemon Princes by then.

In Roman Polanski's "Rosemary's Baby", the "good luck charm" given to Rosemary contained Tanis Root.

Spoiler:
Ultimately, it was a hex meant to draw the Devil to her

So yes, Tanis sounds appropiately daemonic, too

What I like of the pre-heresy Thousand Sons is that they're somehow scholarly and laid back, at least if compared to other legions. Tzeentch, on the other side, is the god of lies, intrigue, magic and forbidden knowledge.

You don't have to trod the usual road of combat prowess for your character to become a Daemon Prince. Just let your imagination fly

I like the idea of a sorceror who was able to offer some sort of new knowledge or psychic power to Tzeentch, in return for the power required to use such a spell.

Anyone have any ideas on what this spell or knowledge could be? I'd like it to be something which I can represent in-game, but any ideas are welcome.

Any different ideas are of course also welcome.

Ok, I've done some thinking and I've come up with something like this:

Tanis was leading a squad of 1k sons investigating a psychic disturbance on a recently settled planet during the great crusade. There's a lone pyramid out in the middle of a desert so Tanis leads his squad to investigate.

Long story short; Tzeentch contacts Tanis in several dreams and promises him unlimited knowledge etc. if Tanis can give Tzeentch something in return. Once in the pyramid, Tanis and his squad realise that the warp is completely nulled in the pyramid, by a glowing crystal at the center of the pyramid. There is also a stone tablet there with an incantation for some sort of powerful spell.

So, Tanis reads and memorises the stone tablet before smashing and destroying it so that Tzeentch can't simply kill Tanis and read the tablet himself. Tanis then shoots and shatters the crystal holding back the warp, letting Tzeentch's daemons through.

When Tzeentch sees that Tanis has destroyed the tablet, he is forced to keep his promise. So, Tanis becomes one of the most powerful daemons to have existed as he is granted the power to use this new spell by Tzeentch. He is also one of the few beings to have ever seen through one of Tzeentch's many plans and ploys.

This is just the general idea, and I've still got no idea what the spell should be. All critique is welcome, and I'll post up the full story once I know what it' going to be.

Thanks.
