I'm trying to work on a theme for my army. On one hand is the magic heavy necro version that will try to win by attrition, and a vamp heavy list that just gives a good ol' fashioned beatdown.
Necro list:
Master Necromancer
lvl 4 w. book of arkham, Master of Dead, dragoncurse stone
Necro
Lvl 2 w. Corpse Cart (Balefire), cursed book, seed of rebirth
40 skellies w. full command, screaming banner
Spirit Host
4 wraiths (in bigger lists these will be heroes, but they work here for now)
The idea: wraiths and spirits will be hard to hit and will bog, bog, bog, while the Necro's will (Allah willing) make my Skellies useful enough to get a kill or two or, in reality, I'll just raise more and make life a pain in the
Vamp list:
Vamp Lord w. Tearing Blade, Dreadknight, Heavy Armour, shield
Vamp w. shield, AotLA (heavy armour and 6+ ward), Nimble Blade
25 ghouls
3 Varghiests
Varghulf
This list is magic poor to say the least, but it'll hit a ton harder. Attrition might be an issue here as I have no armour saves anywhere. The Varg's should in theory have their way with war machines, small units, etc.
What are your thoughts? Which list is more viable? Any alterations to make the lists a little better? It is a good idea to focus a
VC army around the lord and/or the rare? (which will completely change playstyle)
As an aside, since I've not bought any models yet, I was giving some thought to Cavalry. I know it's not as good in this edition, but from what I've read
VC do it better then most e.g. in a 1500 pt game, a unit of 12-ish black knights and 5-ish blood knights (which get no love!). Good idea/Bad idea? ...or stick with the Terrorgeists, Varghulfs, Crypt Horrors, etc?
